Greymon<->MetalGreymon
Not too bad a figure. It looks a bit awkward as MetalGreymon, but I thought the opening/closing missile hatches were a nice touch. Also includes a MetalGreymon holo trading card.
Garurumon<->WereGarurumon
Looks good as both forms, although it's mostly just Garurumon standing up on his hind legs, and his arms switched. WereGarurumon's feet placement makes it hard to stand him up as well. A nice touch here was the spring-loaded opening/closing mouth. Includes a WereGarurumon holo trading card. (The image above is of the metallic plated version, BTW)
Birdramon<->Garudamon
Evolves to/from Garudamon. Birdramon looks kind of silly, with her feet being Garudamon's arms. Garudamon herself looks excellent, however. Includes a Garudamon holo trading card.
Kabuterimon<->AtlurKabuterimon
This would be an excellent figure; but Kabuterimon, while he looks superb, if you turn him around, you see all of AtlurKabuterimon's parts hanging off the back. This won't be the last time we see this. Includes an AtlurKabuterimon holo trading card.
Patamon<->Angemon
Both forms look really good; you simply open up Patamon's body, and Angemon's is inside. Patamon's body parts fold out into Angemon's wings. It even includes a staff for Angemon, along with an Angemon holo trading card.
Agumon<->WarGreymon
One of the best evolving figures out there, Agumon looks great, and WarGreymon looks even better, although the procedure to change him is somewhat complicated. Includes a WarGreymon holo trading card.
Gabumon<->MetalGarurumon
I'm not too sure about this one; both forms look kind of awkward to me. I liked the metallic blue parts on MetalGarurumon. Includes a MetalGarurumon holo trading card.
Most of the Zero Two evolving figures were crap, pure and simple. The Japanese ones were pretty cool; V-mon, for example, came with armor parts to change him to Fladramon, and armor sets were also available for Lighdramon & Magnamon. Hawkmon, Armadimon, Patamon, and Tailmon also had similar sets. Bandai America, however, decided to try something different; Armor digimon that transform into their corresponding digimentals. While a couple turned out decent, most of them were quite crappy.
Fladramon<->Digimental of Courage
Sort of. Fladramon looks alright, but that thing he turns into doesn't look at all like the Digimental of Courage; it just looks like a twisted red pile of crap. Comes with a Fladramon and a Digimental of Courage holo trading card.
Holsmon<->Digimental of Love
Once more, that doesn't look anything like the Digimental of Love that he turns into; it just looks like Holsmon is sitting down. Comes with a Holsmon and a Digimental of Love holo trading card.
Digmon<->Digimental of Knowledge
Digmon looks excellent, but once again, instead of the Digimental of Knowledge, it just looks like he's sitting down, like with Holsmon. Comes with a Digmon and a Digimental of Knowledge holo trading card.
Lighdramon<->Digimental of Friendship
The second generation armors look somewhat better than the first. Lighdramon looks good, and he changes into something that passes much better for the Digimental than the last three. Comes with a Lighdramon and a Digimental of Friendship holo trading card.
Shurimon<->Digimental of Purity
Shurimon kicks ass, and I'm happy to say that his is the best-looking of the American Armor set. Both Shurimon and his Digimental look spot-on. The only unfortunate thing is that most of Shurimon's articulation was sacrificed for it (so you can't put him in any cool poses). Comes with a Shurimon and a Digimental of Purity holo trading card.
Submarimon<->Digimental of Sincerity
The second-best after Shurimon, Submarimon also looks excellent in both forms. But once more, articulation was sacrificed (not that Submarimon had much to begin with). Comes with a Submarimon and a Digimental of Sincerity holo trading card.
Magnamon<->Digimental of Miracles
Probably third best after Shurimon and Submarimon. Magnamon looks cool; I like the gold colored armor, but it might have been made a bit too big & bulky. His Digimental form looks okay, but it is a major bitch to transfor to make it come out right. Comes with a Magnamon and a Digimental of Miracles holo trading card.
Agumon (corrupt)<->Black WarGreymon
Not much to say, since it's simply a recolor of the Agumon<->WarGreymon figure. But this has got to be my favorite of the line, and the only Zero Two figure that was completely unaltered from its Japanese counterpart. Comes with a Black WarGreymon holo trading card.
XV-mon<->Paildramon<->Stingmon
The Japanese version had two seperate XV-mon and Stingmon that could be joined into Paildramon, but the American version is very different, it's one figure that can be changed into one of all three. Paildramon looks the best, and has the most articulation. Stingmon and XV-mon look like crap. Comes with a Paildramon and an XV-mon & Stingmon holo trading card.
Aquilamon<->Silphymon<->Tailmon
Another triple evolver, similar to Paildramon, only 50 times worse. All three forms managed to be completely ass-ugly. Avoid it; avoid it like the plague. Don't waste your money on this garbage.
Imperialdramon<->Imperialdramon Fighter Mode
Possibly the second best of the Zero Two evolving series, after Black WarGreymon. It's the same mold as to the Japanese version, only it was scaled down for some reason; from 8" to 5". Still. it has good articulation and an overall nice appearence in both forms. Comes with an Imperialdramon and an Imperialdramon Fighter Mode holo trading card.
Once more, all of the Tamers line of figures were remade by Bandai of America.
Growmon<->MegaloGrowmon
Growmon looks way better, if not for the neglected paint job in some areas. MegaloGrowmon only looks like he should from the torso up. His hands and lower body are still Growmon's.
Kyubimon<->Taomon
Big yuck for both forms. There's little articulation in either, the paint job is crap, and Kyubimon still has Taomon's parts hanging off all over the place.
Galgomon<->Rapidmon
A small improvement over the last two, both forms look pretty nice for the most part. My only complaints would be 1) Galgomon is a much darker green than he's supposed to be, and 2) Rapidmon's feet are way too small.
HolyAngemon<->Seraphimon
A little late, isn't it? Nonetheless, it's still a nice figure. I love the transparent purple on HolyAngemon's equipment. The only problem with him is that HolyAngemon is blue when he should be white. Seraphimon looks damn near perfect, though. Bandai USA gets high marks for this one.
Leomon<->SaberLeomon
Another late one; while Leomon is in Tamers, he doesn't evolve to SaberLeomon in Tamers. Still, he looks pretty good as Leomon. SaberLeomon is hideous, though. He just looks like Leomon crouched down on all fours, with big fangs.
Guardromon<->Andromon
Evolves to/from Andromon. An impressive figure for the most part. Guardromon looks excellent, as does Andromon. Only problem is that some of Guardromon is easilly visible on Andromon from any angle. Still, it was a difficult figure to do, but it was well executed.
Cyberdramon<->Justimon
Again, A well-done figure that I really have no complaints about. Most of these later figures seem to have been quite an improvement over Bandai America's earlier attempts. Always glad to see people willing to learn from their mistakes. :)
The rest of the Tamer's evolving line was known as "Warp-Digivolvers" and stand at 8" tall, compared to the previous 5" figures.
WarGreymon/MetalGarurumon<->Omegamon
Another that should've been with the Adventure/Zero Two batch, but it's better late than never, right? This figure isn't shabby at all. It's nearly identical to the Japanese mold, only difference is that Omegamon is missing his cape for some reason.
Guilmon<->Dukemon
Dukemon looks quite nice, but Guilmon looks awful...That thing's supposed to be Guilmon, right?
Renamon<->Sakuyamon
I can say the same for Renamon as I did for Guilmon. Sakuyamon looks good; she even comes with her trademark staff. Renamon, however, looks terrible. There are some figures that perhaps shouldn't be evolvers for this very reason.
Terriermon<->SaintGalgomon
Same story as the last two. SaintGalgomon: Sweet. Terriermon: Bleah.
Impmon<->Beelzebumon Blast Mode
Now we're talking! One of my favorites of the Tamer's evo figures, Impmon, while not perfect, looks byfar the best so far of the 8" Child<->Ultimate figures. Beelzebumon looks nothing short of incredible. Great attention to detail, and he also comes with one of his pistols and that big honkin rail gun. Eh, I may be biased, though, since Beelzebumon is my favorite of the Tamers Ultimates.
Lopmon<->Cherubimon
This one's pretty decent. Lopmon, while he looks mostly like a Terriermon recolor, turned out a lot better than the Terriermon<->SaintGalgomon figure. Cherubimon looks good as well.
Dukemon<->Dukemon Crimson Mode
Nothing short of stunning. Possibly the best of the entire line of evolving figures. Both forms look absolutely superb. I've also heard of an evolving ChaosDukemon (gray & blue Dukemon recolor), but I've never seen one in stores.
More on the Frontier line of figures later.
