Summer of 2004 marks the release of a brand new Digimon card game. So far, it looks like quite an improvement over the not-so-successful D-Tector Card Game.
Your digimon cards consist of stats showing that digimon's attack and defense power. When attacking an opponent, the object is to have a higher attack power than your opponent's defense. If your attack is higher, you win, and you gain points equal to the difference. If your attack is lower, you lose, and your opponent gains points equal to the difference. If attack and defense are equal, it's a draw, and no points are awarded. Your digimon also have individual special abilities that can also turn the tides of a battle. And as you may expect, digimon can also evolve to get a better chance at victory.
There are three distince kinds of option cards. There are partner cards featuring the Chosen Children that act as support for a particular digimon. Evolution cards assist in special evolving abilities. Finally, Digi-Modify cards add all sorts of effects to the battle.
So far, there are three Starter decks and four booster sets:
Booster Set 1: Eternal Courage
Booster Set 2: Hybrid Warriors
