Megaman: The Power Battle

Producer: Capcom
System: Arcade, Playstation 2, GameCube
Year: 1995

After such a big success on console systems, surly Megaman will be just as good in the arcades, right? You bet!

As always, Wily has sent more robot masters out to take over the world, these ones are a huge collection of RMs from Megaman 1-7. Megaman goes out to stop them, as usual. But this time, he's joined by Protoman, along with Bass. The latter's not really out to help Megaman, of course; he's just determined to prove to Wily that he's the strongest.

The graphics are mostly done in the same style as Megaman 7. Since it had great graphics, there's no complaints there. The sound too is excellent, with some sweet remixes of past RM themes.

The game itself plays much different from most Megaman games, as it was designed for the arcades. You fight the robot masters in a tournament fighter format; no real stages or anything. You also can select one of three different courses to play through the game on; which one determines which robot masters you fight.

Unfortunately, the arcade machine for this game was pretty rare, only showing up in a few arcades throughout the country. Thankfully, Capcom remedied that problem with the release of the Anniversary Collection in 2004, bringing this game, along with its big brother, the Power Fighters, to a console format.
