Megaman PC

Producer: Hi-Tech Expressions
System: PC
Year: 1990

The Megaman series has started to get a decent foothold in the gaming community after three successful runs on the NES. Enter a software company called Hi-Tech Expressions. Deciding that they wanted a piece of the mega-pie, they went ahead and made their own Megaman game. Did it stack up to its NES counterparts? Uh... Read on...

Robots are rampaging through the city, and it turns out Dr. Wily is once again at the heart of it (when is he not?). In addition, he has control of a powerful super-computer named Crorq. Again, it's up to Megaman to stop him.

Okay, let's get into one of the most horrid parts of this game; the graphics. Some of the most putrid I've ever seen are right here, folks. For a sample, just look at the sprites of the robot masters on the previous page. I've played few games where the graphics have actually induced nausia, but when it happens, you know that's never a good thing. There's barely any sound either.

There are only three robot masters in this game, but it doesn't need anymore, because this game is hard enough as it is. Even me, Jade, Megaman vet that I am, can't make it to a single robot master. It's probably more the bad stage designs than anything, as well as the fact that it's very awkward trying to control Megaman with the unchangable keyboard controls. Oh, and there's no passwords or any other save option either, so you've got to beat it all in one go. Good luck; you'll need it.

I've played very few Megaman games that I'd classify as 'bad', but trust me, this is one of them.
