TV Series Action Figures

This set of action figures from Bandai America was modeled after the characters in the TV show and was available in most toy stores at around the same time the show was airing. They are incredibly hard to find nowadays. Even online stores such as eBay don't have them for sale very often, and when they do, they usually sell for some ridiculous price.

Anyways, despite the fact that they were modeled after the TV show, these figures were done quite well, IMO. However, the paint job could've been better; I had to repaint a couple of mine because the paint began to chip off. What was really neat about them was the fact that their weapons actually fired. Even better, they took Megaman's weapon copy into account, so all of the robot master's weapons can also be fired from Megaman's arm cannon (or Protoman's, for that matter).

Another thing I liked was the fact that this series of action figures had more robot masters in it than any other. The Japanese model kits only have two (Tenguman and Swordman), and so far, the Jazwares series has none.

Here's a list of all of the available figures in this set:

Megaman: Comes with an interchangable arm cannon and a plasma ball to load into it. You press the button on the arm cannon forward to fire the plasma ball after loading it.

Protoman: Like Megaman, he comes with an interchangable arm cannon and plasma ball. One thing I didn't like was how cheaply they did his scarf. They just used a paper-thin sheet of plastic that could probably tear really easily.

Rush: Comes with a jet part. He can transform into his jet form by folding his legs up and attaching the jet part to his back. The pegs on his back allow another figure to be placed on top of him.

Cutman: Comes with two different sets of blades. One is his standard Rolling Cutter and the other is a much larger jagged shear (he looks really goofy when he wears that one :D ). Either blade can be inserted into the hole on top of his head. The button on the back of the head fires the blade.

Gutsman: Comes with a fire hydrant. The hydrant can be placed into Gutsman's arms, then thrown using the button on his back. Actually, he throws it with an under-handed toss that seem a little out of place for big 'ol Gutsy.

Bombman: Comes with a black-ball bomb. The bomb can be placed on Bombman's open hand (it has to be moved so the bomb doesn't fall off), then thrown with the lever on his back. Like Gutsman's fire hydrant, the bomb has a peg on it so it can be loaded and fired from Megaman's arm cannon.

Elecman: Sadly, I never got to aquire this one :( Production was halted and the stores went out of stock before I could get one. But I've seen pictures, and he has an interchangable arm cannon, like Megaman and Protoman. Only he fires a large lightning bolt instead of a plasma ball. I don't know about you, but the awkward shape of that lightning bolt looks like it wouldn't fire too well.

Snakeman: Comes with a Search Snake drone. The snake can be loaded into Snakeman's arm cannon and fired. It never seemed to travel far from his arm cannon, though. Megaman's cannon seemed to fire it much better.

Brightman: Comes with a light bulb. The bulb can be inserted into his head, as it normally would, but it can also be detatched, inserted into his arm cannon, and fired. I know, it sounds really wierd, and not like the way Brightman typically uses his weapon, but that's how it is.

Drillman Comes with a Drill Bomb. The drill can be inserted into one of his arms and fired. Like with Snakeman, the drill seems to fire much better from Megaman's arm cannon than Drillman's. The drill on his other arm can't fire, but it can rotate, which I thought was a nice touch.

At the same time, Bandai also released a set of miniature 2" figurines of characters from the TV show as well. They came in sets of two, and consist of Megaman, Protoman, Roll, Dr. Light, Dr. Wily, Rush, Cutman, Gutsman, Iceman, Elecman, Fireman, and Bombman.
