Cowboy Bebop has 26 episodes:
1. Asteroid Blues
The 1st session starts with a flashback that shows what happens before the series. Then it moves to the show’s present time, 2071. The Bebop (their ship) moving in hyper space while moving through the Gateway. Jet Black is making his infamous Bell peppers and Beef, while Spike Spiegel is exercising. They are bounty hunters after a criminal named Asimov Solensan, who deals a drug called “Red-Eye”.
Spike takes his “Swordfish” (a personal aircraft) down to an asteroid called Tijuana. Spike meets up with an old Indian fortune teller named Man Bull. At a bar in T.J. Asimov deals Red-Eye to the bar tender. Asimov’s pregnant girlfriend, her pregnant stomach is actually where the drugs are hidden, waits for him at the bar. The bartender tells Asimov to prove that it’s real Red-Eye, so he sprays some in each eye, causing them to turn red, hence the name “Red-Eye”. As this happens, a group of syndicate members come in and shoot up the place. Asimov has improved reflexes due to the drug, killing all the syndicate members.
Spike runs into Asimov's girlfriend after the attack. He knocks her grocery bag over, he shows his dexterity by stealing food, but returns it except a hotdog. They start talking, and eventually come over the subject of Asimov. Asimov comes from behind and nearly strangles him to death, Spike sneakily grabs one of the "RED-EYE" vials from Asimov’s pocket as he falls from his grasp.
Asimov, later tries to again sell his "RED-EYE." The unknown buyer is Spike in disguise. Spike waits for Asimov to realize that the vial is gone, and then throws away his disguise. Asimov is beaten by Spike. Afterwards, Asimov and his girlfriend try to escape, but Spike tails them in his Swordfish. The police have been waiting there to stop Asimov craft when they tried to leave T.J. The end is sad, but don’t let this one give you red eyes…
2. Stray Dog Strut
This session begins with an introduction to the next bounty, Abdul Hakim. He takes on three men at once easily, and then walks off with a suspicious briefcase.
Meanwhile, we see Spike and Jet who are caught up in the massive reward for his bounty, 8 million Woolongs, Abdul is an expert con-artist, and with all of the plastic surgery he does for his face, it will be very hard to find him. They do get a lead in with a doctor who preformed surgery on him.
Hakim is still carrying that briefcase. During a stop in a bar, a young man steals his briefcase. When he finally looks inside, the man is surprised when all he finds is a small dog. He decides that he might as well get some cash, so he goes to sell it to the local pet shop.
Of course, this mutt was stolen from an illegal research facility, which sent out scientists to find the dog.
Spike, be the amazingly lucky or skilled (which ever) guy he is tracks the briefcase to the pet shop and, thinking the guy to be Abdul in another disguise, starts to take him in. Once he opens the case to find the dog, he loses interest.
After Spike leaves, the dog escapes and all hell breaks loose, well sort of. Now Abdul and the illegal research facility are after the dog, with Spike after Abdul. After they ditch the research facility, the fight is between Spike and Abdul. This ends in a draw, but Spike gets the lovely one of a kind mutt, gee how lucky…?
At the Bebop, they decided to use the dog as bait to lure out Abdul, and then get their 8 million.
Instead of drawing out Abdul, the research facility decides to bring out the dog with a dog whistle. And oh, ah another chase! Eventually Abdul gets caught, the research facility gets busted, and Spike gets the mutt, now named Super Cool Ein, alright Ein, but isn’t mine better? No?! Fine…
Sometimes it’s good to take in a stray…
3. Honky Tonk Woman
This episode with an introduction to the lovely Miss Faye Valentine. With a smooth mouth, she soon becomes the 4th main character (yes, we are including Ein). Inside an "Herbal Medicine Shop," she is buying a cigar when a shoot out occurs between her and a group of men. She is caught, and hauled away.
In a large spacecraft, we find that Faye is being held hostage, she apparently has a heavy debt that she has accumulated. By agreeing to Gordon’s conditions, the debt will be dropped.
Spike and Jet are going down an elevator to a casino in space. When they arrive, they split up, Jet warns Spike not to cheat, or if he does not to get caught.
We now see Faye as the dealer as well as the cheater at her black jack table in the casino. When Spike joins, we learn from her thoughts that she was told of a guy that looksnlike a loser version of Spike; he is suppose to lose all but one chip, that one chip will win Faye’s freedom. When he gets down to his last chip, Spike stands up and walks away. As he is leaving, he runs into the guy with the chip, and during this the guy quickly grabs the nearby chip, causing the chips to be switched. Faye catches up to Spike, who really does have the chip this time, and she argues with him about the chip, so he simply swallows it. Security is called, which Spike quickly takes care of, and then he and Jet take Faye in for questioning.
Gordon, turns out to have known all along who had it. After the Spike look alike turns up empty, Gordon gets rid of him.
Back on the Bebop, Faye is locked up in the bathroom, claiming she is innocent. Spike coughs the chip back up (gross…), and after Jet does some investigating, they discover that the poker chip is actually a microchip is a program capable of unlocking virtually any security code in the solar system. The show Big Shot is turned on and the two find out when Faye turns up with a 6 million bounty on her head, lucky day.
Spike and Jet decide to collect the bounty, but on their way to get the money they get a call from Gordon suspiciously demanding his “worthless” chip. Jet tells him that they knows what it really is. Gordon agrees to pay them for the chip, and the deal is that Spike and one of Gordon's men make the exchange. Meanwhile, Faye escapes the Bebop.
On Gordon's ship, they planned that as soon as the chip leaves Spike's hands, they will kill him. When the time comes, Spike releases the chip and Gordon's men shoot at Spike, the Bebop and Faye's escape ship. In the end, Faye gets away with the money, Spike gets the chip back, and one of the missiles originally launched by Gordon gets turned around, destroying their cockpit, let me just say…HA!
Spike and Jet then go off and use the microchip as a mere poker chip in some casino. Ante up…
4. Gateway Shuffle
Faye is out there by herself with an empty tank of fuel and almost no food, attempting to get the attention of other ships for help. She finds an abandoned ship and decides to check it out.
Jet and Spike are back on the Bebop working on getting another bounty. In a nice restaurant, the two are positive of their catch that they go ahead and order the most expensive thing. Right when they are about to arrest the guy, an odd, very odd woman with sea-rat (some dumb animal…) masked accomplices take out guns and shoot up the place, killing the bounty among others. Jet remembers that this woman has a 25 million bounty on her head, so they of course, change their plans. Spike captures her, and fearing that Spike may hurt her if they resist, her accomplices (her loving, psycho children) leave to plan a way to free her.
Back to Faye, we see that she has found a survivor in the destroyed ship. His last wish is for Faye to take a briefcase to the ISSP police force and not to look at it (But now we gotta see it…).
On the Bebop, we learn the woman’s name is Twinkle Maria Murdock, the leader of a group called the Space Warriors, created for the protection of the endangered Ganymede Sea-Rat (animal rights losers). Murdock, though has turned it into a terrorist group who blackmail to get their way. Jet now notices the Ganymede Police have canceled the reward as of the day before, no why would they do that...
Like any curious girl, Faye opens the briefcase. Inside is a vile encased in a protective shell thingie. Faye soon gives up trying to figure out what it is, then she spots a slow-passing ship. Of course this is the Bebop.
Spike and Jet capture Faye again and learn that she had used all the money she stole from gambling in a casino. Jet contacts a friend on the force to find out what happened to Murdock’s bounty, and we learn that the Space Warriors have chosen their next assault. Unless their demands are meet, they will unleash a new virus that turns humans into monkeys (Scary!). With the release of Murdock on their list, Jet and Spike are forced to let her go, what a bummer...
After she is released, the Space Warriors enter hyperspace and put their plan, Monkey Business, into motion. Spike and Faye follow after, determined not only to get the now renewed bounty on Murdock's head, but to stop the virus before it turns the people who would pay their bounty into apes. But one released vile turns into hundreds! So now, a race to escape. Spike and Faye get out at the last second, and the missiles along with the Space Warriors get tuck in hyperspace. They are now like ghosts floating through space. Murdock accidentally drops a deadly vile, and I can assume we all know what happens.
5. Ballad of Fallen Angels
Spike's past comes back to haunt him as he finds himself dealing with old friends and enemies. He goes after a member of The Red Dragon Syndicate, but of course it's a set up.
On top of these problems, Faye gets captured by Vicios, Spike's rival. In the end, Spike goes to save Faye at an old church. Here Spike shoots things up, and gets shot himself. He and Vicious clash sword and gun. And Spike is blown out of a stained-glass window, a very beautiful and sad shot. Spike survives, but so does Vicious...
6. Sympathy For the Devil
This episode starts out with a flashback of what seems like Spike being experimented on or something. This all happens to the rythmic sounds of Wen and his harmonica. Spike and Jet are after a bounty, as usual. Spike follows their target, as Jet distracts an old friend.
Spike follows him, but eventually the guy is blown out of the building and lands on the Swordfish's nose. He dies, but gives Spike a ring, asking Spike to help him.
Spike takes the ring and they now look into all this. Faye notices that the kid Wen is in a newspaper, but the paper is from decades ago. So they investagate. Spike eventually goes to find the kid in a warehouse. There Wen tells Spike that Wen may look like a child, but is actually not. there was an accident and now Wen no longer ages.
Spike gets shot and returns to the Bebop. There he takes the rock from the ring and puts on the end of a bullet. He assumes that this will make Wen be able to die again. He meets up with Wen where he shoots him. And as thought, Wen ages very quickly and dies. The episode ends with Spike tossing up Wen's hamonica and making a gun with his hand "Bang!".
7. Heavy Metal Queen
Spike meets up with a trucker named VT. And Vt and him become fast friends, but as soon as she discovers that Spike is a bounty hunter, she blows him off. During this whole event Faye is searching for a new bounty, who ends up being a little nerd.
This nerd however, is carrying highly explosive material. When Faye, Spike and VT get caught near him, they bearly escape without being blow to bits. In the end Spike guesses VT's name Victoria. What's in a name?
8. Waltz for Venus
Alright, this is one of the sad episodes, gir;s pull out those tissues if you are a softy. And if you aren't the crying tyoe, it'll still get right where it hurts the most.
Spike and faye are on board a passenger ship to Venus. There they catch 3 hijackers named Huey, Dewey, and Luie. They show off their moves while during so, gotta looked good while catching your bounties. When they cash in their bounties, a guy who is impressed with Spike follows him. Roco is his name, and he wants to learn some moves from Spike. And Spike being the lovable helping hand he is, of course helps...except not. Spike, however, does show him some moves after being annoyed.
Roco is actually running from some pretty nasty people, and when they show up, he gives Spike a plant to hold for him. The plant is Grey Ash, a very valuable plant that has the ability to heal a sickness caused by the hanging plants used to make Venus' atmosphere.
Spike dicovers that Roco has a bounty on his head. Eventually Spike goes to visit him, but instead finds his blind sister. He tells Roco's sister of what's happening. She believes Roco is a good man, and Spike tells just that.
Spike meets Roco like planned, but the thugs ruin their plans. Roco actually pulls off one of Spike's moves, but gets shot after. As Spike tryies to help him, he passes away. Spike goes to the hospital where Roco's sister is going to be treated. He brings her flowers, and when she asks where Roco is, the tragedy is revealed to his poor sister. Spike leaves the flowers and returns to his own tragedy. A person is how others remember them...
