Chapter 18*~
“Daddyyyyyyy....”
I turned around at the sound of Dana’s voice and I sighed, “What’s wrong Dee?”
“Mommy
said I couldn’t go over Isabella’s house because I didn’t clean my room, and
she said that I could yesterday. So can I go?”
“Dana...”
I hated to tell her no, but Liyah would probably beat my ass if I said yes.
Something about spoiling these kids and giving them whatever they wanted. “If
your mother said you need to clean your room first then clean it. All this time
that you’re wasting whining to me isn’t going to get that room clean honey. I’m
sorry but you can’t go till the room is clean...”
“But
that’s not fair!”
“But
life isn’t fair. Sorry baby girl. Ask Alexandra to help you clean, I’m sure she
wouldn’t mind.” I watched as Dana went upstairs, pouting, her lip all poked
out, making me feel kind of bad. I sighed and ran my hand down my face. “Dana,”
She turned around, that sad face still plastered across her pretty little face.
“Go ahead to Isabella’s house. I’ll take care of your room, but next time I
ain’t gonna fall for that cute little puppy face you hear me?” She nodded,
running out the front door, leaving me there shaking my head.
“Sounds
like someone just talked you out of making her clean her room.”
I
turned around to look at Taylor, the kids new nanny and I smiled softly
shrugging. “Yeah, she’s good at it, she seems to always get out of things.”
“She’s
a daddy’s girl isn’t she? She seems to be able to get past you easier than Li.”
I
laughed and sighed. “I’m a sucker for cute faces.”
“I’ll
have to remember that.” Taylor winked at me and looked at the stairs and then
back at me. “Need some help with her room? I’m free for a little while.”
“Sure,
I’m sure I’m gonna need all the help I can get.” I said as we started upstairs.
Taylor was a beautiful woman and that’s probably why I’m so cautious around
her. Look I already got two women pregnant, and Li has already made it clear if
another woman shows up pregnant she is gonna slice my balls off. Fair enough I
guess. Li had also made sure to know that this was her last child, this was it
for her, she wasn’t going down that road again, and that lord we already had
five and this baby would make it six. Talk about a full house. There were only four kids around most of the time
because Alexandra was away at a performing Arts school in New York. Li had a hard
time letting her go but we were able to pry her off the poor child. “Look at
this mess.” I sighed and shook my head. “Alright how about you take the toys
over there in the corner, and I’ll sort out this mess she calls a closet.”
“Alright
sounds good to me.” Taylor said as she sat on the floor beside the toy chest as
she opened it, putting Barbie’s into the bin. “So how do you like being a
father? Is it everything you thought it would be?”
“I
like it, it’s different, and it really gives me a different perspective on life.”
I hung a dress up before picking up a skirt and folding it. “I mean, I just
can’t make decisions for myself anymore. Every decision I make can affect my
children and their lives so I have to think before I act.” I shrugged. “I love
all my kids, everyone of their bad asses. I’m still trying to sell them on the
black market, Li won’t let me though.”
Taylor
laughed and shook her head before looking up at me. “How long have you and Li
been married?”
“Eight
years can you believe that? Sometimes I think we can’t even believe it. We’ve
been through so much as it is.”
“You
two must really love each other to go through so much together.”
“We
do, I would never let anything happen to her. I love her too much.”
“You’re
a great guy, and she’s a great woman. That’s how everyone knows your meant to
be...”
~*3 hours later*~
“Drewww.....Laylaaa.....Dawnnn!”
I peaked around the corner, hearing giggling coming from under the bed.
“Hmm...where could they be?” I bent down beside the bed and looked under the bed.
“Ha! Found yall!”
“Aww
daddy, that’s not fair...” Layla whined and rested her hands on her hips as she
sighed and looked at me.
“Why
isn’t fair princess?”
“Well
you knew we would hide there.”
“Nuh
uh....” I smiled and tickled her. “I’m just good at this game.” I winked and
looked at them. “Alright yall it’s time for all of you to get ready for school
in the morning. So lets get moving you all.”
“Do
we have to?” Drew asked, looking at me, his big brown eyes stuck on my gaze.
“Yes
you have to. Come on yall, don’t just look at me, get movin.” I watched as they
started out of the room and shook my head as Li walked in, eyeing the kids
before eyeing me.
“Yall
havin a party and didn’t invite me?”
“You
wish.” I kissed her softly, wrapping my arms around her waist. “How you
feelin?”
“Pretty
good. A little tired, but pretty good. Taylor has been a lot of help today with
the kids.”
“I’m
glad to hear that. She seems like a really nice girl.” I looked at Li who held
this suspicious look and I laughed, watching her eyebrows raise. “Oh come on,
we just talked earlier while we did some cleaning up, because your bad ass kids
make messes.”
“Oh
so they’re my bad ass kids huh?” Li smiled softly and rested her head on my
shoulder, “Beyonce called....”
I
looked at her, and she sighed and looked me in my eyes. “What did she say?”
“She
miscarried.”
“What?
When did this happen?”
“Last
night. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, but I was just very busy and kind
of pushed it to the back of my brain to tell you later.”
The
look on her face showed that she kind of felt bad, but not bad enough to care
and break down and cry for Bee. I kind of felt bad about it but the same went
for me that it did for Li, just not enough to break down and cry about it. I
sighed and looked at Li who broke out of my embrace and fell onto her back on
the bed and stared at the ceiling. “Sleepy?”
“Very.”
“Alright,
you get ready for bed, and I’ll go see if the trouble team is in bed yet.” I
watched as she laughed and nodded and I headed out into the hall. I peeked
first into Dana’s room where she was already out cold, then into Drew’s room,
he was asleep as usual, then the bad ass twins who were missing in action. Hmm
if I were them where would I go...I jogged down the stairs and silently crept
up to the kitchen doorway, watching them in action.
“I
can’t reach it Layla!!!”
“Dawn!
All you have to do is push it off the top with the broom!!”
“But
what if daddy hears???”
“Yeah
what if I hear?” I watch the horrified looks on their faces as they realize I’m
there and they get that nervous look on their pretty little faces, looking at
each other. “Mhm, busted.”
“We
were just on our way to bed.” They said together as they skipped past me,
running up the stairs.
I
shook my head and started back upstairs, stopping in the twins room to tuck
them in before heading back in the room where Li was reading by the window.
“So
is everything fine?”
“Those
bad ass twins were up to no good but they’re in bed now.”
“Aww
poor daddy Justin. You a little tired?”
“A
little is a understatement baby. An huge Understatement.” I smiled and fell
onto my back, staring at the starry ceiling above.
