Grandfather then tells them about the legend of the Bone Eaters Well (Screen 1). He then goes to the well and nails it shut, sealing it with scroll seals. When he tells Kagome that he sealed the well, she seems somewhat disappointed.

The scene switches to Inuyasha running through the forest at night. He stops and sniffs the ground for Kagome’s scent, and finds it near the Bone Eaters Well (Screen 2). Inuyasha see’s Kagome’s clothes by the well and wonders why they are there, and then he realizes that she really did return to her own world through the well. He jumps into it.

Meanwhile, back at Kagome’s house, Kagome is lying on her bed with her cat. She says it’s good be home in her own bed again, and then she starts to think about her time in the Feudal era. She thinks about the hair demon and worries that she might not give the jewel shard back that she possesses. But then Kagome thinks about how Inuyasha wouldn’t want her help anyway. Then Kagome’s mom calls her for dinner and tells her that her friend is on the phone. Over dinner, Sota asks Grandpa if the scroll seals will stay on. He tells him of course they will, since he knows spirit so well. Grandpa tells Kagome that he will defend her to his last breath, but Kagome is too excited about having real food again to hear him. Just as Kagome is about to start eating, the door opens. It’s Inuyasha. Inuyasha calls Kagome and idiot and asks her who told her she could go home. She asks him how he got there, and he says he came through the well. Grandpa says that’s impossible since he sealed the well himself. Inuyasha holds up a scroll and says he hates to break it to him but they don’t work. Grandpa cries, and Inuyasha begins dragging Kagome by the arm to take her back with him. Kagome says she doesn’t want to go and he can’t make her. Kagome’s mom tells him to wait a minute. When she pauses she comes over and grabs his dog ears, asking if they are really. Sota runs up and cries, “me next, me next!” While this is going on, Kagome notices a hair on Inuyasha’s kimono. She asks him if he sees it, but he says he doesn’t. Kagome picks up the hair and it cuts her hand. Kagome realizes no one else can she the hair but her, and that it must be from Yura.

Kagome runs to the well, and see’s that hair is coming out of it. Inuyasha is behind her now, and says tells her that he old woman was right, Kagome does have the Sight (Screen 3). Kagome begins yelling at him because it was his fault that the hair followed him to her house. Sota and Grandpa have run up the well now, but Kagome shuts the doors to the building and tells them not to come in. Lots of hair is coming out of the well quickly now, and Kagome dodges it, yelling to Inuyasha. He blindly strikes at it, unable to see where it is. The hair begins to wrap around Inuyasha’s arms and legs. Kagome notices that one single strand of hair coming out of the well is the one controlling them all. She grabs onto it, and it cuts her hands. The blood dripping down the hair allows Inuyasha to see it, and he strikes at it and breaks it. After the single hair is broken, the rest of the hair melts away. Kagome realizes that since Yura has her part of the Jewel it must be her that Yura is after. She tells Inuyasha they should go right now, and he says he thought she didn’t want to go. She tells him that she doesn’t but she has to. Inuyasha is surprised at her determination, and he puts his kimono over her. He tells her that it’s made from the hair of the fire rat, and that it will give her some protection (Screen 4). Kagome thanks him, and he tells her that if she weren’t so weird lookin’ she wouldn’t need it. Kagome says, “you should talk dog-boy”, and then the two of them jump down the well (Screen 5).

Back in the Feudal era, Yura is lying on a pile of skulls. She is holding a red skull, and talking to it, telling it that they will be back any minute now and she won’t let them get away. Inuyasha and Kagome pop out of the well (Screen 6), and Kagome is telling Inuyasha that Yura is after just them since she already has Kagome’s jewel shard. Inuyasha is starts yelling at Kagome because she let Yura take the jewel shard. Kagome ignores him and says that she can see a lot of hair in the forest, but they need to follow the main one. She spots it and Inuyasha carries her on his back through the forest following the hair (Screen 7). They stop when they see a campfire burning. There are dead villagers around the fire. Kagome is looking at the ground, and Inuyasha says he better not hear her say that she’s scared and wants to go home (Screen 8). Kagome replies that actually she was think she would borrow the bow and arrows she found on the ground. Inuyasha says they know that she won’t hit anything, so why bother. Kagome says she just needs practice, and Inuyasha thinks to himself that maybe she really will be able to do it. At they continue through the forest, the hair catches up with them. There is a whole lot of it now, and Kagome is trying to give Inuyasha directions on where to go to dodge the hair as it comes after them, but a bunch of hair wraps around Inuyasha’s wrist and yanks him upward. Kagome falls off of his back. Yura appears and calls Inuyasha by name (Screen 9). Inuyasha is suspended in the air now, with hair wrapped around his arms and legs. She shows him the jewel shard and calls both Inuyasha and Kagome half-wits for breaking it. Inuyasha breaks free from the hair and tries to attack Yura, but she only sends more hair at him, tying him up in it again. She strikes through him with a sword, and tells him that she’s going to cut him into pieces. Suddenly an arrow whizzes past Yura. Kagome tells her next time she won’t miss. She shoots another arrow and it almost hits Inuyasha, and he tells her to watch where she’s aiming. The arrow hits a clump of hair, and human skulls begin to drop down from it, all of which are attached by their hair. Yura tells them that they will be joining them soon. She takes out a comb and sends fire down a few strands of hair at Kagome, who collapse under the flames. Yura then turns to Inuyasha, who attacks her with his Blades of Blood which cuts off Yura’s hand. Yura sends the skulls flying at Inuyasha again, and he stops them with another attack. Yura’s hand which has been cut off is still holding a sword. It comes from behind and stabs Inuyasha again. Inuyasha falls to the ground and Yura comes down to finish him off. Her hand is joined with her body again, and just as she is about to cut Inuyasha’s head off, he jumps up and strikes his hand right through her, however, Yura is not affected by it. She tells Inuyasha that now she has become cross. Inuyasha wonders where her weak spots is. Meanwhile, Kagome is climbing up the tower of hair and skulls. Yura turns to looks at her and the hair begins to move causing Kagome to fall. Inuyasha sees the sword on the ground and picks it up, slicking Yura in two, however, she joins herself together again right away. Now she turns to Inuyasha angrily. Kagome yells to Inuyasha to go after the red skull. Yura seems afraid now, and goes after Kagome. She stings her up in her hair and slices at her with her sword, but Kagome is not hurt. Yura and Kagome are both confused as to why Kagome’s arm was not cut off, but then Kagome remembers that it must be from Inuyasha’s kimono. Yura then tightens strands of hair around Kagome’s neck. Inuyasha attacks Yura again and catches Kagome as she falls. Yura throws her sword, and it pierces Inuyasha through the shoulder. Yura pulls the sword back using her hair, and tells Inuyasha she’s immortal. Suddenly, a look of pain comes across Yura’s face and we see that Kagome is his hitting the red skull with an arrow. Kagome says that skull contains the hairs connected to Yura’s hand, and Yura yells at Kagome to stop. She sends the sword at Kagome to kill her, but before it reaches her Kagome cracks through the skull. The skull explodes with a flash of light and Yura disappears. Kagome holds up a comb where the skull used to be. Inuyasha explains that Yura was a comb. Then he falls to the ground, grabbing his wound. Kagome says that it only happened because she had his kimono. Inuyasha says its no big deal, and asks where the jewel is. Kagome gets it, and Inuyasha says, “Kagome, let’s go”. Kagome comments that Inuyasha has never said her name before, and that she thinks that Inuyasha likes her more now. Inuyasha says he still thinks she’s pretty useless. She says next time she won’t save him then, and she pokes him. He falls over in pain. Kagome says if it hurt that bad he should have said something. The episode ends with Kaede, who is still buried in the ground, talking to herself. She says that Inuyasha and Kagome need each other, and that Inuyasha had better not forget where he buried her.
