Tetsusaiga, the Phantom Sword

The villagers are out searching for Kaede and Kagome. They find Kagome’s bike in the forest. Back in the modern era, Sota goes outside and finds his mom lowering the seat on her bike. She says this way Kagome can use her bike when she gets home since she brought her own bike to the feudal era. Sota says Kagome is lucky to have a mom like her to worry about her.

Kagome is still lying paralyzed watching Inuyasha and his “mother”. She tells him that she must return to the other world now. A flower appears in her hand and she throws it into the water. She tells him to look at the petals. The water becomes a reflection of Inuyasha as a young boy. He’s cashing a ball and then he runs into his mothers arms, and she holds him (Screen 1). Inuyasha’s mother is now standing behind him hugging him like in the vision (Screen 2). Suddenly, she starts to dig her arms into Inuyasha’s back.

Kagome still cannot move. We see that she is being held down by demons with chains that seem to be invisible to her. Kagome realizes that the whole place is an illusion. She’s really laying outside where they originally saw the carriage in the sky in the last episode and it’s dark out. Myoga jumps on Kagomes cheek and tires to get her to snap out of the trance she’s in. He says to himself that she’s so tied up she couldn’t even swat a flea, and he starts to suck blood from her cheek. Kagome reaches up and swats him, and then says she’s less paralyzed than she thought.

Jaken sees Inuyasha and his mother. His mother has no face now and looks as if she’s eating him. Jaken runs up and hits her with his staff and tells her she cannont suck his soul until after the find out how to find the tomb. Kagome is watching from the shadows. Inuyaha’s mother asks Inuyasha, who is unconscious, where his father’s tomb is and Inuyasha says that he doesn’t know. She looks into his soul and sees a black pearl. Jaken tells her to find out more, but she says if she digs any deeper his spirit will be broken. Jaken says he doesn’t care, do it anyway. Inuyasha tells his mother he can’t breath. In the dream world he’s in he is being held under the water. He looks up sees his mother has no face. Then her arms wrap all the way around him several times like a rope. Meanwhile, Kagome grabs Jakens staff and begins beating him with it, calling him a mean, stupid toad. Inuyasha’s mother is now sucking Inuyasha into her body. Kagome yells for her to stop, and Myoga tells her to awaken Inuyasha’s. She asks him how. Myoga then explains that the think sucking in Inuyasha is an “un-mother” which is born from the grief of losing children. She seeks to fill the void inside herself by taking the souls of others. The un-mother is telling Inuyasha that soon they will be together always. Kagome sees the reflection of them in the water is of the unmother holding Inuyasha as a child (Screen 3). Kagome decides to erase the illusion, and she runs into the water and hits the water with Jaken’s staff to disrupt the reflection. The unmother screams and Inuyasha comes out from inside her. Kagome runs to him. Sessshoumaru rushes up and grabs Inuyasha by the neck and tells him that he knows where the tomb is now (Screen 4). He says the tomb has been right above their noses. Inuyasha is confused, but then Sesshomaru raises hi hand and begins to draw something out of Inuyasha’s eye. A small pearl is removed, and Sesshoumaru says that their father’s tomb is inside the black pearl which was hidden in Inuyasha’s eye. Inuyasha is still angry that Sesshoumaru tricked him with the unmother and Inuyasha tries to attack him. Sesshoumaru fights back with his whip and just as he is about to hit Inuyasha, the unmother jumps in front of the attack and breaks into pieces. Myoga says the unmother sacrificed herself for Inuyasha because she still has a mother’s heart. Sesshoumaru calls for Jaken and Jaken gives him his staff. Sesshoumaru takes it and brings it down on the pearl. The old man on the staff begins to laugh, and the pearl opens a portal to the tomb. Sesshoumaru steps though it. Inuyasha is about to tell Kagome to stay there because its too dangerous, but she is already stepping through the portal (Screen 5). Inuyasha quickly follows her. Kagome is surprised by the size of Inuyasha’s father’s bones. They enter into his skull. Sesshoumaru is standing in front of a sword which is stuck in a platform. He says this is the sword, the Tetsusaiga, which he has been seeking because of it’s power. Jaken says the sword was forged from Sesshoumaru’s father’s fang. Sesshoumaru tries to pull the sword out, but he cannot and the sword burns his hand when he touches it. Inuyasha comes up from behind him and tries to attack him again. Myoga tells Inuyasha to look behind him. He does and he sees the sword. Myoga tells him that it’s very powerful. Inuyasha says that it looks like a piece of junk that wouldn’t even cut paper. Myoga tells him that he must draw the sword, because he was intending to inherit it. Inuyasha tries to attack Sesshoumaru again, and Myoga tells him he can’t fight unarmed. Kagome yells to Inuyasha to pull the sword because Sesshoumaru can not and it would hurt his ego. Inuyasha decides to do it. Inuyasha tires to pull the sword but it seems like he isn’t strong enough to do it either (Screen 6). Everyone is surprised that Inuyasha couldn’t do it. Sesshoumaru attacks Inuyasha again and tries to hit him with his poison claws. Jaken goes to help Sesshoumaru but Kagome jumps on him. They fight for awhile and Jaken pushes Kagome over near the sword. She grabs on to the sword and pulls herself up with it. Sesshoumaru is about to finish Inuyasha off, and Kagome yells to him. She is about to run to him, but she still has one hand on the sword, and with only a slight tug it comes out. Everyone is surprised to see Kagome holding the sword (Screen 7). Sesshoumaru stopped his attack on Inuyasha and they all stare at Kagome. She meekly says, “it just…came out…Sorry.”
