The Toad Who Would be Prince

Kagome is swimming in a pond, and Inuyasha is lounging in a tree. Inuyasha starts complaining to Myoga because they’ve been looking for three days and they haven’t found any jewel shards yet (Screen 1). Myoga isn’t listening and says he’s distracted by Kagome swimming. Myoga tells him that he’s going to go check on her, and Inuyasha tells him not to because he’s going to get clobbered. Myoga jumps off and Inuyasha follows him, and Myoga says that Inuyasha can’t resist either. Kagome screams when she sees Inuyasha (Screen 2). Inuyasha tells her it’s not what she thinks, but she says the reason she screamed was because her clothes are gone. Inuyasha looks and see’s a monkey running away with them. The monkey runs back to a young man, who asks him what he brought for him. The man pulls out Kagome’s bra and says with a surprised look that this isn’t something to eat (Screen 3). Just then Inuyasha and Kagome pop out from behind the bushes. Inuyasha yells and Kagome tells him to give her clothes back. In the next scene, the man is chowing down on Kagome’s bag of Potato chips. Kagome offers Inuyasha a bag of chips, but he declines. She says that if he eats it she won’t have to carry it, and Inuyasha tells her that it’s not his fault that she carries around so much junk all the time. Kagome introduces herself and Inuyasha to the young man, and Myoga starts to suck his blood so Kagome introduces him as well. The man wonders who these people are. Kagome asks him if he’s a nobleman, and he says he won’t say, but that his name is Nobunaga. Kagome gets excited and shakes his hand and asks him for his autograph. Nobunaga signs his name. Inuyasha asks her why she’s so excited and she asks him if he studied history. Myoga tells her that the history hasn’t been made yet. Kagome seems to have confused this Nobunaga for a famous historical figure, but when she looks at the autograph she realizes he’s a different person (Screen 4). Asks him if he knows the famous Nobunaga and he says he does and he’s a big idiot. Kagome told him that he shouldn’t have signed his name if he wasn’t the famous one, and she’s extremely disappointed. Nobunaga tells them that he as business to attend to and he starts to walk off. Inuyasha begins to tell him not to go that way, but it’s too late. Nobunaga has fallen down the side of a steep hill. Kagome calls him a loser. Meanwhile, at a nearby village, many young girls are being lead away with their hands tied. The villagers comment that they already have taken enough young girls and that the girls never come back. Nobunaga is watching quietly from the bushes and say to himself that the rumors are true. Then Inuyasha and Kagome pop up from behind him. Inuyasha turns to Kagome and asks her why they had to follow this guy. Kagome tells him that he needs their help. Inuyasha complains that they have a mission of their own. The three then over heard some of the villagers whispering that there is a rumor that the lord has been taken over by a demon. Inuyasha perks up at this, and steps on Nobunaga in order to lean forward to hear more.

At the castle, the lord is covered in bandages and is large with a weird shaped head. A beautiful young girl is beside him, and he asks her, with his very goony voice, if she likes castle life. She says yes. She asks where the young women are that he has summoned from the castle. The lord throws a fit and yells that she cannot ask that. The princess apologizes. The princess wishes she could return to her villages.

Later that night, Inuyasha says he can smell demon and he thinks there is a jewel shard there. He leans over and tells Kagome to jump on his back. Nobunaga jumps on his back as well, and Inuyasha asks him what he’s doing. Nobunaga says he has business there, and Inuyasha tells him to find his own ride. Kagome tells Inuyasha to just take him (Screen 5). Inuyasha takes them over the wall of the castle. They find all the castle guards asleep. Myoga tells them that the sleep is hypnotic, from the demon. Nobunaga goes inside the castle and begins calling for the princess saying that he as come to save her. Nobunaga enters a room and finds and old woman lying on the floor. He runs up to her calling “Princess!” He looks at the old woman, and starts to cry, saying “what has happened?!” Right next to him, Kagome is looking at the princess sleeping, and asks Nobunaga if this is the princess he’s looking for. He looks over and drops the old lady. Myoga says he knows how to wake her up. He jumps on her cheek and begins sucking her blood, and she reaches up and swats him. The princess wakes up and says “Nobunaga? Why are you here?” (Screen 6). Nobunaga seems surprised that she recognized him, and says “You remember me?” She says of course she does since they were friends as children and he was always so nice to her. Nobunaga blushes. The princess goes on about how she remembers everything, like how he would trip and fall all the time and she would laugh. Kagome asks Inuyasha if he thinks that Nobunaga is in love with the princess, and Inuyasha comments that he’s pathetic. The princess begins to cry and says she wishes she could go home. The princess explains that the lord began act strangely after he fell into the garden pond and ran a high fever. She says its like he became a different person. Nobunaga tells her that she must return home, and that even her father had heard of the lords derangement. Nobunaga goes off about how he would have come to save her no matter what. Just when the mood is all serious, the princess says to Nobunaga, “There’s a monkey on your head”. The monkey is chirping and spinning a plate on a stick. Nobunaga cries in disappointment. The lord is walking down the hallway now, and we see that he as green webbed feet. Inuyasha and Kagome go out into the hallway, and the lord tries to hit them with his long tongue. Inuyasha jumps up and cuts the bandages off of the lord with his claws. Kagome screeches that the lord is a toad. The princess faints onto Nobunaga when she sees the lord (Screen 7). Kagome sees that there is a jewel shard in the toads shoulder. Myoga warns Inuyasha that the toad is stronger than he looks. Inuyasha jumps up to attack quickly anyway. The toad spits a toxic cloud of fumes, and Inuyasha falls to the ground. Myoga warns Kagome that the fumes are toxic as she plugs her nose and tells him that she knows that. Nobunaga is protecting the princess and the toad walks up to them and demands that Nobunaga give him his princess back. Nobunaga draws his sword, and tells him to stay back. The toad hits Nobunaga with his tongue, wounding his shoulder and knocking the princess out of his arms. The toad runs off with the princess and Kagome rushes to Nobunaga’s side. Nobunaga tells her that he doesn’t care what happens to him him but they have to save the princess. Kagome says that she knew it; he is in love with the princess. Nobunaga seems puzzled and asked how she could tell. She seems surprised too and asks if it was a secret. Inuyasha is angry now, and says that the toad won’t get away. The princess’ scream can be heard, and Inuyasha follows after the toad though a hole in the wall of the building.

Inuyasha burst into the room where the toad is, and finds that he has trapped the princess in some sort of “toad egg” thing. The room is filled with the other girls from the village trapped in eggs. Myoga explains that the girls are keep in the eggs until their souls ripen, then they are eaten. Nobunaga is angry that the toad is going to eat the princess, and he jumps up to attack the toad with his sword. Inuyasha pushes him back, warning him about the toad’s poison gas. Inuyasha strikes the toad with his sword. The Tetsusaiga has transformed now, and Kagome says it must be because the princess is human. The toad cries that he doesn’t want to die, and calls for souls. Some of the women’s souls come out of the eggs and the toad swallows them. Kagome and Inuyasha see that the wound on his shoulder has disappeared. The toad threatens to eat more souls for every cut Inuyasha makes.

Meanwhile, Nobunaga cuts the princess out of the egg. She coughs and wakes but, and then hugs Nobunaga (Screen 8). He blushes and then hugs her back, saying he can die without regret now. The monkey is still on his head, however… The toad begins to walk toward them now, calling for Nobunaga to say away from his princess. Inuyasha knocks him over the head with his Tetsusaiga. The toad falls back, and his voice changes. He addressed the princess and touches his face and seems confused and asks what he’s done. The princess says that that’s the voice of her kind husband. Kagome says that means the real lord is still alive. The lord continues that it’s like a nightmare that he can’t wake up from, and that he had no control over himself. The lord then says that since he can’t control himself they should kill him now. Inuyasha seems excited about this and asks him how he wasn’t him to do it, but Nobunaga stops him. Kagome tells him that Nobunaga is right, there is a human in there. Inuyasha is angry at them, and says that he asked him to kill him. He puts out his sword, but Nobunaga stands in front of the toad lord and tells Inuyasha he cannot approve of him taking life. Kagome looks at Nobunaga proudly. Inuyasha grumbles and puts his sword away, and tells him to handle it himself. Then he sits down on the floor in a huff. The toad then crackles and evil, goony laugh and says thank you for sparing me. The punches hit tongue through Nobunaga’s shoulder. Kagome and the princess rush the fallen Nobunaga, and Kagome looks to Inuyasha for help. Inuyasha says he’ll help, but only if he gets to kill him. The toad beings walking toward the princess and calling for her. Nobunaga tells Kagome not to worry about him, but to take the princess to safety. The girls run away, and the toad follows after them. Nobunaga is lying of the floor, grimacing in pain, and Inuyasha asks him if he wants him to kill him yet. Nobunaga says no, and Inuyasha calls him an idiot.

Kagome and the princess are still running away from the toad, and Kagome is trying to think of something to do. Myoga tells her that if they pour something hot on the toad, like hot water, the real lord will come out. Kagome asks him just how he thinks they can get hot water. Kagome is still thinking about what she can get that’s hot, and she asks if there a torch anywhere. Kagome sees Nobunaga’s monkey, and the monkey brings her back a plate of fire. Just then, the toad knocks her over, and the contents of her backpack fall out as she hits the floor. Inuyasha jumps in front of the girls now, with his sword ready, and tells Kagome that mercy is not a luxury they can afford. When Kagome hears the word “luxury” she remember the hair spray that fell out of her backpack and realizes she can still save the lord. She “sits” Inuyasha and sprays the hairspray onto the flaming plate toward the toad (Screen 9). The toad demon is hit with the flames, and fly out from the lord (Screen 10). Inuyasha slices the demon, and the jewel shard falls from him. Nobunaga runs to Inuyasha and thanks him for saving the lord. The princess calls to Nobunaga and walks toward him with open arms. Nobunaga thinks he’s going to get a hug, but instead the princess hugs the lord and thanks Nobunaga for saving her husband. Nobunaga falls over. Inuyasha says that Nobunaga had his chance.

Later, Inuyasha and Kagome are sitting on a picnic blanket and Nobunaga is sitting nearby staring off into the distance with his monkey on his head. Kagome says that it was nice that all the girls were saved. She asks Nobunaga to says something. Inuyasha calls him an idiot, saying that the almost got himself killed and he went out of his way to save his only romantic rival. Nobunaga looks down, and says “that’s me, worlds biggest idiot and fool”. Inuyasha says not to beat himself up too much, because he also saved a lot of lives. Nobunaga says that does cheer him up, and he gets up to leave. Inuyasha and Kagome start to tell him not to go that way, but again its too late, and Nobunaga falls down the hill. Kagome, Inuyasha, and the monkey look down after him and Kagome says, “Yup, he’s an idiot alright”.
