Kagome has made Inuyasha some ramen noodles and he’s scarfing them down. Kagome starts to complain that they’re sitting in a battle field filled with corpses. After that Kagome tells Inuyasha and Myoga about the advances in technology, such as instant noodles. She tells them that man has traveled to the moon, and Inuyasha asks if they went on a bicycle. She explains what a rocket is and Inuyasha keeps eating. Kagome says that only Inuyasha would be more impressed with noodles than space travel. Suddenly the sky turns dark, and a large swirling vortex appears in the sky. The vortex speaks and says that Inuyasha possesses a shard of the sacred Jewel. Myoga says that he thinks it’s a fox, but Inuyasha says that isn’t likely. Then the vortex stops and a giant round thing with eyes demands that Inuyasha hand over the jewel or die. Inuyasha looks annoyed and slaps it away with its hand. It crashes to the ground and transforms into a small fox demon. Kagome and Inuyasha walk up to him, and Kagome notices that he’s just a kid. Inuyasha picks him up the tail. Kagome thinks that he’s cute and says she wants to hold him next. Then the fox demon makes a rock appear and Inuyasha’s hand gets stuck under it. Kagome looks over at her bag and notices the fox demon is rummaging though it and she yells at him to stop. He finds the jewel in her bag, and then he disappears in the same vortex he appeared in. Inuyasha and Kagome stare for a minute, wondering where he went, until they hear a noise behind them. The little demon has a skull over his head and he’s running away. Inuyasha angrily stops him with his fist. Later, Kagome sprays some medicine on the bump on the fox demon’s head. She asks him why he wanted to get the jewel from them so badly. The little demon, Shippo, replies he needs the shards to avenge his father. Kagome asks if he means that his father was killed. Inuyasha says that he must not be strong enough and he needs the jewel to take out his enemies. Shippo starts to say that he is plenty strong, but Inuyasha and Kagome are fighting loudly now. They look up when they realize the fox demon yells at them that he’s talking.
He begins to tell about a battle that took place by the forest where they lived. A evil, dark cloud passed over and the warriors were confused by it. Two demons came from the cloud and killed all the men. Both the demons have Shikon jewel shards in their foreheads. One of the demons is big and unattractive, and has only three hairs on his head which he is combing. He also has a fox pelt wrapped around him. The other demon is much more attractive and has long hair that’s braided.
Kagome is riding her bike with Shippo on the back. She asks him if his father was murdered for his Shikon jewel shard, and how did he get the shard in the first place. Shippo he doesn’t know, but the two demons are called the Thunderbrothers because of the attacks they use. Inuyasha asks Myoga if he’s heard of them, and Myoga says their names are Hiten and Maten. Inuyasha says that all he has to do is kill them and take back their shards. Shippo says that it has nothing to do with Inuyasha, since he’s a half-demon. He says this fight is only between demons. Kagome says that’s no way to talk to Inuyasha, and Inuyasha walks over and begins pounding Shippo on the head until he asks for forgiveness. Kagome says to go easy on him. Shippo creates another statue-rock and drops it on Inuyasha’s hands. He sticks a spell scroll on it, and tells Inuyasha that he’ll be stuck until he can get the spell scroll peeled off. Kagome tells him not to be childish and to let Inuyasha go. Shippo says he doesn’t like to play tricks on women, but he creates a little vortex and grabs Kagome’s jewel shards and runs off. Kagome calls him a little dog and chases after him. Inuyasha is still stuck and yells for Kagome to wait, but it’s too late, she’s gone.
Thunder brother Maten is looking at his reflection in a pond. He’s combing his three hairs again, and says that with a few more he could attract the ladies like his brother. Maten hears a noise from the tall grass next to him. Shippo is running through the grass when Maten stops him. Shippo sees his father’s pelt wrapped around Maten’s waist and screams. Shippo is crying and he jumps up to attack Maten, but Maten swats him away. Shippo is knocked to the ground and the jewel shards he stole from Kagome bounce to the ground next to him. Shippo grabs them and Maten steps on his tail and tells him to hand them over. Just as Maten is about to spit a ball of lighting at Shippo an arrow strikes him though the nose. Kagome has arrived and is surprised that she actually hit him. Maten asks her who she is. Kagome points another arrow at him and tells him not to move. Meanwhile, Inuyasha is yelling for help. A man comes across him but runs away in fear.
Back with Kagome and Shippo, Kagome tells Shippo to come over by her and bring the jewel shard. Shippo starts to run toward her, and Maten runs after him. Kagome sees the jewel shards in Maten forehead and aims for them. She hits them but it the arrow bounces off. She is about to try again, when Maten reaches up to his head. Two of his hairs fall out, and he begins to cry. Maten screams and spits a giant lighting ball from his mouth as Kagome and Shippo run away. Shippo says it the same attack that killed his dad. The blast hits them and the fall to the ground. Kagome is unconscious and Shippo tries to wake her but its no use. Maten is moving closer now and Shippo runs off. Maten leans over Kagome and says that she looks good enough to eat and that she’s very lovely. Shippo is hiding in the tall grass nearby and he watches as Maten flies off with Kagome under his arm. Shippo decides that he has to rescue her, but he doesn’t know how.
Back with Inuyasha, Myoga is trying to pull the spell scroll off the statue, but is unsuccessful. Shippo shows up and tells Inuyasha that he’ll help him if Inuyasha promises not to hit him anymore. Inuyasha asks him where Kagome is and why she didn’t come back with him. Then Inuyasha tells him that he won’t hit him. Shippo takes the statue away, and says that he’ll tell Inuyasha where Kagome is. Inuyasha immediately punches Shippo in the head several times. Inuyasha then picks him up by the tail and shakes him until the jewel shards fall out, and then Inuyasha takes them back. Shippo yells at him to forget about those because Kagome has been abducted by the Thunder brothers and Inuyasha should go after her. Inuyasha asks him why he let them take her and if he hid in the bushes while the made off with her. Shippo yells at him not to blame him because Kagome is Inuyasha’s woman and he should do some of the rescuing. Inuyasha blushes, and yells that she isn’t his woman. He slams Shippo to the ground. Inuyasha then says that he supposes it wouldn’t hurt to save her, but only if Shippo apologizes to him and prepares him a bath tonight. Myoga coaxes him to do it because they’re wasting time. He finally decides that he has to because he can’t rescue Kagome by himself. After Shippo apologizes, Inuyasha says don’t worry about it and he picks up Kagome’s bike and tells Shippo that they have to get going. Shippo is surprised at how painless that was. Meanwhile, Maten is stirring a boiling pot while Kagome lies unconscious nearby. Kagome wakes up and asks where he’s taken her. Maten tells her that’s the least of her worries, and that the flesh of young maidens is a wonder potion for hair growth. Kagome yells angrily that she’s rather be eaten alive than boiled up for a hair potion. Maten tells her that if she doesn’t be quite his brother will hear and fulfill her wish. Suddenly, Hiten punches though the wall. He says that he though her heard voices. Hiten has a beautiful demon woman beside him. Hiten asks Maten who the woman is, and Maten defensively says that she’s his. Hiten says that’s ok, because he already has a woman. Kagome thinks to herself that the other brother looks almost human, and maybe she can talk her way out of this. Hiten asks Maten if he found any more jewel fragments. Maten says that he found one but then he lost it. Hiten becomes angry and asks if he forgot about the jewel shard because he found a woman. Then Hiten angrily blasts away the demon woman that was with him, killing her. Maten asks for forgiveness and Hiten tells him that he brings nothing but shame to their family. Kagome watches fearfully and thinks to herself that she’s in serious trouble.
Later, Hiten says that he’s going after Shippo to get the jewel shard and Maten is coming with him. Kagome thinks it would be a good time to escape, but when she moves Maten sees her and swings at her with a large knife. Kagome tells him that he shouldn’t kill her because she can help him find Shippo and the jewel shards. Maten looks puzzled, and Kagome thinks that now she only has to convince his brother. She asks them if they’ve heard of Inuyasha, the strong, handsome warrior. Hiten says that Inuyasha is not strong and that he’s only a half demon. Kagome says that he’s wrong; Inuyasha has defeated lots of demons and has most of the Shikon shards. Hiten is interested now, and sits down next to Kagome. He asks her if she’s lying. She says that she isn’t and the she knows this because Inuyasha is madly in love with her. She goes on and says that if they tell him that they are holding her captive, her one and only love will gladly hand over the jewels. Maten says he thinks she’s lying, but Hiten thinks that she’s telling the truth. Hiten tells her to take them to Inuyasha and that if she’s lying she’ll suffer the same fate as the demon woman he killed. Inuyasha and Shippo are running in search of Kagome. Shippo is riding in the basket of Kagome’s bike, which Inuyasha is carrying. He appears to be uncomfortable, and Inuyasha tells him that if he’s scared he can always leave him behind. Shippo says he’s not scared and he’s going to save Kagome and avenge his father…with a little help from Inuyasha. Shippo says that Inuyasha better be as strong as he says he is because the Thunder brothers have jewels in their foreheads. Myoga tells them to hurry because Kagome might not have much time. Inuyasha says that she can handle herself and that she probably has them cleaning their cave. Myoga tells him that the Thunder brothers don’t keep pretty young ladies for long before devouring them. Shippo is scared that Kagome might have been killed, but Inuyasha tells him not to worry because Myoga said “pretty young ladies”. Shippo tells him that Kagome is pretty, and brave, and smart. Myoga thinks they should take a vote on whether Kagome is pretty or not, and Shippo is afraid that Kagome will come back and haunt him. Inuyasha gets frustrated and yells for someone to just point the way to the evil brothers. Then lighting strikes them, and they fall off the side of the rock cliff they were standing on. Inuyasha grabs Shippo before he gets struck again, and Hiten appears above them. Shippo asks what they’ve done to Kagome, and Hiten tells him that they’ve done nothing yet. He calls for Maten, and Maten floats over on a dark cloud and has Kagome with him. Kagome yells Inuyasha’s name. Inuyasha yells back to her, and thinks to himself that at least they haven’t hurt her yet. Hiten seems pleased and say that judging by his reaction it seems that the girl spoke the truth. Hiten tells him to hand over the shards of the jewel or he’ll never see his lover again. Inuyasha looks extremely confused and mumbles “See my lover?” Kagome thinks to herself that some people can’t take a joke. Inuyasha yells to them that there must be some misunderstanding. Then he says, “Let me get this straight, you and I are supposed to be lover?” Kagome tells him it’s no time to get all shy. Maten turns to her and says that he knew she was fibbing and Kagome looks at him sheepishly. Inuyasha yells that she actually thought he would give up the shards a ransom for her. Kagome yells back angrily that of course he would because that’s what a lover would do. Inuyasha says that they’re not lovers and without love the whole argument kinda falls apart. Kagome yells back at him that that now some little gems are more important than her, and how dare he say that after all they’ve been though together and that he had better admit to himself how much he really loves her. Hiten says that he’s heard enough and that he’s going to take Inuyasha’s shards from him now. Hiten jumps down to attack him, and Inuyasha holds up his sword to Hiten’s weapon. Lighting is surrounding both of them now. Hiten tells him is should be a interesting battle because Inuyasha does have some power, but know style. Inuyasha says hopefully it will be Hiten’s last.
