RP Tips'n'Trix

This is a guide to help you better your RP's. Whether you need this or not, you might just find something you didn't know! What we look for in RP's is quality.

HTML Basics

To change colors: < font color=(insert color name here) >
Now, remove the spaces between the left and right carrots (<,>) and and the "font color" and insert a color name (or hexidecimal #), so your finished product looks something like this:
I changed the color.

To change sizes: < font size="(insert font size here)">
Remove the spaces and you should get this:
I changed the font size. Font sizes, at least on the boards, range from 1 to 7.

Bold, Italics, and Underline: These are quite simple. For bold, just use < b > and remove the spaces. It's the same thing with italics except it looks like this < i >, without the spaces of course. To underline use this < u > and you will be able to underline what you want. If you want to just use bold, italics, or underline on a certain part of your RP, then use any of these commands that applies to what you used, without spaces of course. < /b >, < /i >, < /u >.
HTML commands must be entered individually. You cannot do something like this < biu > and expect to get this.

That's the basic stuff you need to know for an RP, if you have any questions about advanced HTML, email me (the CEO) or the owner and we'll do our best to help you.

Some Advanced HTML

If you cannot get your RP to post, and you have someplace else on the internet that you can post it at, then you might find this useful:

To add a link: < a href="URL" >
Remove the spaces and you get this:
Click here to go back to ACW
Once you have gotten the link command typed, you'd want to add something like "Click here to read RP" or whatever. After you've completed the link, use < /a > to end the link so you don't make one huge link. So your finished product looks like this, without the spaces of course:

< a href="URL" >Click here to read RP< /a >
That's how to add a link.

To add a marquee: < marquee > The result is:
This is a marquee m'kay.
The ending command for a marquee is < /marquee > Like everything else, remove the spaces.

RolePlay Tips

There are a lot of different things that make your RP's good. Anything from length to what you "talk" about, it all has an effect on the quality of your RP. Here are a few tips:

1. Try to describe in detail the setting. Rather than just: The scene opens in a bar Joe Jobbernoski is sitting there. Try to do this: The scene opens in a bar. The jukebox is blaring through the smoke-filled air and Joe Jobbernoski is seen sitting on one of the bar stools. The camera shoves its way through the crowd and approaches Joe. He looks into the camera, then takes a drink, and begins to speak. Notice the difference?

2. Which one is makes a better statement:
I'm going to kick your ass.
Or
Lou Zer, you have GOT to be insane if you think you can beat me! I mean, somebody of your status could not possibly be at my level! I will destroy you and that's all there is to it! Try to understand this, Lou Zer, because to say that you are better than me is one of the biggest jokes on the planet!
You be the judge.

3. Now rather than just coming out and saying "I'm going to kick your ass" and insulting your opponent in 72 different ways, try to dig up the dirt on your opponent and use it against him or her. Here are some examples of what can be used:

  • Try to find your opponents history. What titles he/she has held (if any at all), how they won them, etc. Most e-feds offer a title history page that you can look at to find that type of information.
  • Find out his or her win/loss record, and if it's horrible like 4 wins and 10 losses use it against him or her. Once again, most e-feds offer some kind of records page that you can find this on.
  • Concentrate on the type of match it is and name your strong points in that particular type of match.
  • Compare your opponent to one of your former opponents that you have defeated and explain how their similarities.
  • Sometimes you can compare your opponent to a cartoon character such as Wile E. Coyote and how he always trys to catch the roadrunner, but never does.
  • Make fun of your opponents valet/manager.
  • Use humor in your RP's.
  • Try to be creative and rare with your RP's. Most wrestlers would use something like this: The scene opens inside a hotel room. Rather than be average and do that, use something like this: The scene opens inside of the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. or The scene opens inside of a french restaurant. The more rare your RP's are, the better your chances of winning.

And that's how you can improve your RP's. Whether you learned something or not is up to you. And remember, this page will always be here for referance!
