Mosquito Stigmata

This one took a long time. I haven't done much in pen & ink lately, so I had a lot of fun doing it. It's also a huge drawing. 18 x 24 or something like that. I got the idea for this from a dream I had. At the time I had gotten mosquito bites on the back of both of my hands. That night, I dreamt that I was scratching them, and then they started to bleed and became stigmata, and the other stigmatic wounds opened on me as well. Then there was a mosquito crucified on the top of a hill.

The turtles I added after the fact. I was just doodling, and the smoking turtle came about, so I put the hands coming from the smoke. I had originally planned to put red mosquito bites on the hands, but by the time I was done, it seemed like it might have ruined the whole film noir look of the drawing.
