Irish dances

The fold was brought bythe Celtics when they

immmigrated 2000 years ago from Central Europe. This

dance was probably the first form of dancing in

Ireland. The druids performed dances in circle as part

of their culture. Severals types of dances were

mentioned in documention from the 16th century. They

were Trenchmore, the Irish Hey, jigs, and the Rinnce

Fada. The Rince Fada featured 2 long lines of dancers

facing each other. The dance masters appeared around

1750 years ago. They teach both group solo dancing to

the local villagers. The solo dancing was the most

popular. They form an Irish dance, known as the Set

Dancing. Set Dancing can be linked back to English

country dances. The Set Dancing was known as Contre

Dances. It was further developed and rise to the

Quadrille. The French Quadrilles were the Set Dancing

and it was developed. It was also believed that it may

have been the dance masters who were responsible for

the lack movement of the arm in Irish solo dancing.

Dance masters competes each other at the fair t

challenged one another, which would end when one fell

to the ground in fatique. Also compete for the right

to teach in a particular village. Solo dancing came

around the 18th century, when set dances evolved,

these heavy shoe dancers, including St.Patrick's day

and The Blackbird, are the basic of todays heavy shoes
