First Baptist Church of Norman, Arkansas was organized in 1908.  The first pastor was H.H. Thomas.  The congregation met in a public building down-town until 1912, when the sanctuary was built.  An annex for Sunday School Rooms was added to the sanctuary in 1922. 

The parsonage was built in 1940, across the street from the church.  

An educational building was built in 1966.  This provided more Sunday School rooms, a kitchen and a nursery.

  In 1971 the church added an organ to its music program.  This was done through donations and was given in honor of Mrs. Eleendor Maxey, the oldest charter member at the time.

The church purchased a church Bus in October, 1971.  Thus began a very productive Bus ministry.

In October, 1975, the church voted to build a new church building.  The ground breaking was held on June 6, 1975.  Mrs. Berry Davis, a charter member, and Tom Avra, Building Committee Chairman turned the first shovel of dirt.  The first service in the new church was held Sunday, October 31, 1976.  

A Bell Tower was built to house the BELL that was in the Old Church Building that was torn down.

The 1984-85 church year saw again the need for expansion. During this time a new pastor come on the field, Brother James Hughes.  The first expansion came in the way of a Church Van.  The van was added to expand the present Bus Ministry.  As the church grew numerically there came a need for more Educational Space.

 In September 1985, the church voted to build a new Activities building for the purpose of fellowships and Sunday School space.  The old fellowship hall was divided up into Sunday School Rooms.  The first activities in the new building was in January 1986.  

  In 1997 the Church purchased another Church Van. 

 In 2000 there was a need for more Sunday School rooms, so the church voted to add Sunday School rooms, a storage building and rest rooms to the existing Activities building.

The Lord has blessed First Baptist Church in Norman in countless ways through the years.  He has shown His hand in these expansion programs, this gives us confidence that these ventures are with His blessings.
