Eph:4:11: "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"
Background= Blest be the tie that bind
Get to know your pastor
and his family:
Thanks for the visit
1 Thes. 5:12
And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
This verse tells us to recognize or to know those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord. Remember that pastor labors in the Word of God, prays for you and is looking out for your soul. Many may not be use to hearing that.
Many are use to pastor would you do this or do that. Can you come and visit me, and pray for me at home. When you get under a supernatural man of God, he is not playing those games. He means business. He's hearing from God, and if you are, you'll get blessed!
See it is greatly accepted for the pastor to stand by the door and say bless you, bless you on
the way out! And you say good sermon, and bless you back! But the minute he becomes
over you in the Lord, it's a different story. Well who does he think he is? What right does he
have to say that? Hey, hey, hey!
Read 1 Thes. 5:12 again:
Now this cuts out the less mature really quick. It says the one over you
in the Lord, and admonish you! That means the pastor has authority. Authority to discipline in the church. When he does have to discipline, your response is a good indicator of where your at in the Lord. Did you get mad, pout, or did you say, yes sir, it won't happen again. See you should ask you pastor to admonish you - it will help keep you straight.
What does it mean to know the pastor or to recognize the pastor?
Does it mean to take them out to dinner? Invite them over for supper? Those things or ok, but its
much deeper than that. You have to study someone to get to know them. How do you know
someone, you study them, watch them, take notes on him. Not that he is the standard, but he is
suppose to be an example to the flock. He is suppose to lead by example.
Relationship is the key, the more you know a person the more you can relate to that person. The
less you know about a person the less you will understand them!
Now we are not talking about following a pastor like he is God: No we only have one God. You follow your pastor as he follows Jesus. If your not going to put any effort into knowing your pastor, then forget it! You may never walk in the fullness that God has for you, because the pastor is the one that God has put in your life to flow in God's anointing to help you.
The pastor is not the mediator between you and God: You have an anointing in you from no man. But yet, God gave those ministry gifts to perfect and equip you.
In the book of Acts, the Apostles were sent out of the church - so don't get mad and leave the
church. Stick around and work, get trained. You will never operate in the fullness of your
anointing until you know your pastor and he knows you.
The pastor has to be more than your problem solver, more than just a man who dresses up
at services times and brings a message.
You have to study your pastor - but then again so many get lazy in church. You found out in
school you would do ok if you studied. But if you quit studying for some reason then you did bad. We come to church and get lazy. We need to study the man of God and watch how he handles hard situations, watch how the anointing comes on his life. Do you know why many don't do that? Because they never received him!
See if they would receive him, then they could learn how that anointing works in his life and how God brings him through situations and learn from those victories.
Understand the pastor is not your god, nor is he your savior and you should never worship him.
He is a man of God and you need to learn how to relate to him properly biblically.
Now many pastors will never tell you to study their life because when you take notes your going
to see some good and bad things. You will see both his strong points and his weak points. But
that is the point, pastors or not perfect. You follow the Christ-like qualities in them you see. See
the pastor is suppose to be your example, it keeps him on his best, and it helps aid in your
Christian life and growth.
