Here are a few examples of things to do with samples of wallpaper borders.
Frames : I like using wallpaper samples as objects to frame because there are many different images to chose from, in many styles and they are free!!! The borders are the ones I prefer.
I also use wallpaper (ones with no
distinct images) to make mats for other kinds of pictures.
Decoupage
Here is a simple wooden box on which I applied fruits that I
cut
from a wallpaper border. Once the paper is glued, you applied a few coats
of varnish to protect the whole thing.
I used the same technique to redo some
flour/sugar/coffee containers you find in the kitchen.
The containers were
very useful but ugly, and new ones would have cost a lot. So, a bit of
spray
paint (on the outside only! we don't want to poison anyone.) and some
fruits from a border,
a bit of varnish and you have brand new containers that
everyone will find beautiful!
The finishing touch
Here is a box I built from a scrap of plywood. I built it to store my
clothes pins.
Once I was done painting it, I simply applied the square image
of the lamb that I took on a border to the front of the box.
I gave it a few
coats of exterior varnish to protect the paint and the image.
Estimated cost: about $4.00 for the hinges
