As some of you may have guessed, Arawelo is not my real name. I have chosen the name in honor of the legendary Somali woman who realized that a world ruled by testosterone can be a dangerous place. So she organized a band of warrior women and ruled an area of Somalia. Although her reign was not long, stories of her bravery and skill have remained long after in Somali folklore. For those interested in learning more about Arawelo, check out Queen Arawelo or Arawelo: A Role Model For Somali Women. I am currently living in the crazy United States. I recently graduated from college and am now out in the "real world". My favorite things include reading, watching the NBA (it is FANtastic!), and spending time with family and friends. My goal in creating this page is for Somalis everywhere to share in their experiences, learn from one another and have some fun. I have received numerous letters accusing me of being a "man hater". That couldn't be farther from the truth. Since I can remember, there has never been any real dialogue between men and women. So men listen up, this page is for you too. If you have any complaints or question as to why women do the things we do, just ask.
