A Brief History of BTE

Kevin Griffin meets Cary Bonnecaze at Louisiana State University. They attempt to form a band in '87 but give up on their first bass player. The guys decide to give it another go in '88, and they place a "bassist wanted" ad in the school paper. Enter, Tom Drummond.
The early days...
The guys play their first gig at Murphy's where Kevin worked at the time. By the summer, the guys move to Boston where they hone the tunes which will eventually become Surprise. By the fall, they return to Louisiana to play frat parties, bars, and the like scraping by on not much more than gas money for their van. They release Surprisein 1990 and hit the road after Kevin graduates from LSU; however, after the passing of their original rhythm guitarist, Joel Rundell, the guys split. They play occassionally until 1991 when they were signed to Elektra, and their sophomore effort, Deluxe, was released. The band tours around the world from '95-'96, but Cary and the guys have a mutual parting of the ways. He is replaced by Travis McNabb who plays on their next CD, Friction, Baby which is released on August 13, 1996. Since the release of FB, BTE has been featured on the American Werewolf in Paris soundtrack with their "Normal Town" remix and most recently, on the X-Files soundtrack with "One More Murder" Their next CD, How Does Your Garden Grow, is due to be released on August 25, 1998.
