feeding your pet rabbit

A rabbits diet is very important and unlike other pets they eat small amounts frequently, therefore needing access to food 24 hours a day. The most important thing is that they have a balanced diet. Rabbit mix is inexpensive and available from all pet shops. This mix is made up of sun-flower seeds, alfalfa, beanies and other dried pellets.

Rabbits also need a constant supply of fresh water, this can be put in a rabbit bottle which attaches to the side of their cage/hutch, or a bowl. However, which ever option you choose make sure it is the right size and that your bunny has no problems drinking the water.

Rabbits love fresh foods and it adds a bit of variety to their diets. You should introduce fresh foods very gradually as they do have a delicate digestive system. While most bunnies like lettuce it has infact very little nutritional value. However, cabbage, turnips, and carrots are very nutritional. Carrots also have the added benefit of exercising their teeth. If fresh food is not eaten almost immediately make sure to take it out of the rabbits home or it may become contaminated.
