Adding a Clickable Link

Question:
Could someone "please" explain here on the help catagory, how to put a link onto a post. Example: if I want to send folks to see a good website I've found, how do I add the link on my post rather than just give them the address?

Answers:

  • Adding A clickable link to your posts!
You would need to type (or copy and paste) this:
    < a href="http://www.the addy of the site"> then retype the name of the site < /a >

Okay...that's it generic. Here's an example of one....Type (or copy and paste) this:
    < a href="http://www.wirefire.com/seakle/50junkiepg.htm" > Addicted Internet Junkie </a >
And you should get this: Addicted Internet Junkie

  • To make clickable E-Mail
    < a href="mailto:person E-Mail addy"> then type out the person's name </a >
    Example < a href="mailto:mockme2@yahoo.net" > < Margie in *Texas*! < /a >
and you should get this: Margie in *Texas*!

  • Image as a clickable link
One more trick, instead of words as the clickable link, you can use an image link. This works with both types, the regular old clickable link and the e-mail link. It would be written like this:
    < a href="http://www.wirefire.com/seakle/19viruspg.htm" > < img src="http//members.tripod.com/~webtv500/panicbut.gif" alt="The latest virus list!LOL!" > < /a >

To get this:       The latest virus list LOL!

  • An Image as clickable e-mail
    Type this:
    < a href="mailto:comer@alltel.net"> < img src="https://www.angelfire.com/ky/gimlet/images/emailradio.gif"alt="E-Mail to Gimlet!" > < /a >
To get this!!!     E-Mail to Gimlet!

NOTE: There are only spaces between the letters...img & src and the letters a & href....it may APPEAR to be spaces in other spots...this is due to manipulating html so it shows the < instead of making the image!!!
