I have always wanted that E-mail announcement that says, "YOU'VE GOT MAIL", but because I didn't have AOL, I couldn't have it~~~~Until now! Do you have those tone thingys and would like to have an announcement. Well, I can tell you how!!
- The first thing to do is pick and save a wav. We have uploaded some samples here to get you started ... see below.
- Second thing: Remember where you save it to! (what file!). Now, Go to your START button then to CONTROL PANEL, then choose the SOUNDS option (it is a picture of a computer with a wav symbol [speaker] over it). Scroll down 'til you see "NEW MAIL NOTIFICATION", click on it so it is highlighted. Click on the browse button and tell your computer where you put the wav. Then click on APPLY and then click OK.
- Thats all there is to it!
You can do a search on e-mail wavs and find a slew of them. I happen to like this one.
Pretty cool huh? Let me know if you try it!!

And while you are in your sounds folder, you can also change the sound alert for all kinds of sounds the computer makes. If it shows a little speaker next to the name that means a sound is set (or enabled) for that function. No speaker means no sound is set for that one, but you can ad one if you like! You can click on the name of the function and click on the > in the preview area to hear what sound is being used. Just follow Betty's instructions above to change any and all sounds....remember these are alerts...you don't want to get into adding huge files for these sounds or you will end up sitting there waiting and waiting while windows plays a ditty!!! Keep the selections small and short!!!!
