Drinking My Doubles !
Drinking My Doubles
She called her lawyer.
I called her bluff.
She said that my love
Just wasn't enough.
For all of those late nights,
That I'd been away.
I said, I was working.
She said, I'm leavin' today.
Oh please, God in Heaven,
Please answer my call.
Because I've seen the writing.
All over the wall.
I chased after money.
The fortune and fame.
But now I'm drinking my doubles.
With no one to blame.
I've worked too many doubles,
For too many years.
Our lives had grown empty.
From too many tears.
So I'm off the late shift.
I'm off every night.
Now I'm drinking the doubles,
Till they turn out the lights.
Oh please, God in Heaven,
Please answer my call.
Because I've seen the writing.
All over the wall.
I chased after money.
The fortune and fame.
But now I'm drinking my doubles.
With no one to blame.
