Scripture Text - 1John 2:15-17
Those Number Two Ones
(Butch on stage reading the Bible)
Butch: Lets see, 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. for everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man ,
the lust of the eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father
but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God
lives forever.......
(Pause)
Butch: Now that's heavy stuff man. Living forever.......(starts daydreaming)
(Liz enters stage)
Liz: Hey Butch, what's up, Guess where I've been.....(pause) (Butch still daydreaming)
Bet you can't even guess not in a million years.....Butch, Buuttch... (Yells) BUTCH!!!!!!
Butch: Whoa, Liz didn't notice you, when did you get here?
Liz: (Disgusted) You didn't hear a word I said did you! What were you thinking
about?
Butch: What I could do for God. I was thinking about maybe helping mow the grass
at church. Or I guess I could help in the nursery. Babies think I'm funny........The only UNCOOL
thing about babies is those DIAPERS.......(Liz interrupts)
(Butch keeps talking too)
Liz: Butch stop and let me tell you where I've been! (looks at Butch, disgusted)
Butch: Those #1 diapers aren't bad but those #2 ones phew.... but for God I guess I could do it.
Liz: Are you through rambling on about God and diapers.
Butch: Yeah chick, what's up.
Liz: I want to tell you where I went today.
Butch: I was wondering why you weren't at Church today.
Liz: We went to the New Mall there was a hundred shops. I just love all those dress shops,
and the candy shop, Butch they had free samples, I must have ate a ton of chocolate.
Butch: So I took your place in the Nursery so you could go eat chocolate and try on dresses?
Liz: That's not all I did, we saw a movie with Leonardo in it too.
(swooning) He's sooo fine!
Butch: Liz, you are really out there!
Liz: What do you mean.
Butch: The memory verse at church was about YOU !!!
Liz: Me, how.....
Butch: 1John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world..... You are
loving the things of the world more than the things of God, Liz.
Liz: Well mom said she would take me to the mall and my Aunt doesn't have Saturdays off....
Butch: (interrupts) Excuses won't work you didn't show up to do your work for God in
the nursery. I did it, diapers phew!!
Liz: Your right Butch, I better call my Aunt and tell her I can't go next week.
Butch: Yup, If you want to live forever....
Liz: No, because I love God! (leaving stage)
Butch: Hey chick, did you bring me any of those chocolates, you know, samples!
Liz: Sure did, lets go to my house and get them.
End!
