The Shepherd
(Butch alone on stage. Magazines pinned to stage)
Butch: Let's see, here I got...Modern Shepherding...
Popular Shepherding...The Care And Feeding Of A Lamb...Skateboarding
Quarterly... Woah, that's not supposed to be here!
(Liz enters singing "Jingle Bells")
( interrupts Butch at "And Feeding")
(Stop singing)
Liz: What are all those books doing out here???
Butch, what have been you up to???
Butch: Hey, I am being good. It's just sometimes,
I would like to be someone else.
Liz: (sarcastically) How Long have you been thinking about this???
Butch: Only since Class today, We learned about the birth of Jesus!
(Liz goes off half cocked)
Liz: What does that have to do with being somebody else.
I get it, you want to be Jesus, that's ridiculous Butch you can't be Jesus,
you can be like Him but Be Him? C'mon Butch get real.
(laughing) Did you fall off that skateboard and bump your head... (laughing)
Butch: Slow down Chick, you aren't even close...
Let's go over the lesson...First an angel came and told
Mary she was gonna have God's baby.
Liz: Right, then what?
Butch: Well, Mary believed The Angel. So she did exactly
what he told her to do.
Liz: Enough about Mary, I know you don't want to be her.
She is A Girl!!!
Butch: Now we get to the good part... Then after Jesus was born,
Angels went and told some Shepherds about Jesus, The son Of God...
Liz: ( interrupting again) So you want to be an Angel...
Fat chance Butch, You would look silly with wings anyway...
Butch: Liz, Chill Out and let me finish the story!!!
Then a whole band of angels joined in and started singing...
( sing this) Luke2:14 " Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men"...
Liz: I am sure, they sounded better than that!!!
So c'mon Butch what is your choice,? I can't wait...
who is it you want to be!!!!????
Butch: Let me finish... Well the Shepherds were excited
and they believed. So they went to Bethlehem to see Jesus.
Wouldn't you like to see Jesus???
Liz: Okay, Why do you want to be a Shepherd,
Jesus has already been born!!!
Butch: I don't really want to be a Shepherd...
I just want to have a Shepherds heart.
To believe without question. To have Angels sent to talk to me...
(not as snotty)
Liz: Well, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
Although God still Talks to us with His Holy Spirit.
That's kinda like an angel. You just can't see Him.
Butch: You meen I can just be Butch!!! God will still love me?
Liz: Yup... And Believe that Jesus died for our sins.
Butch: Whew, Boy am I glad... I am allergic to WOOL.
Liz And Butch: (start singing, "Joy To The World") ( Exit stage Singing)
