This letter was sent to me by a friend after I told her I had become a Christian and was being baptised.
Dear Arlene,
I did not forget your birthday. I thought about you all day.
I'm very glad to hear that you are working on getting your life together. You are a beautiful, funny, hard-working and loyal (maybe a little too loyal) person who deserves peace and security in your life. You must do what is right for you -- don't sacrifice yourself for others -- they don't appreciate it -- believe me I know!!
You have wasted too many years living other people's hopes & plans. It's time to follow your dreams. You deserve happiness and to get it you must first find who you are, not who everyone else expects you to be. Remember, I've been there. It's a hard struggle, but worth the immense effort.
I think that the support & love of a church community can be very encouraging. Everyone needs a loving circle of support.. I shall pray for you on the 31st. I will be at your baptismal in spirit. Get involved with the church activities. You have much to offer. Reach out to others and your soul will be full filled...
Please let me know how you are doing. The road is long, bumpy and filled with potholes -- keep going one step at a time. I'm on the same road just a few yards ahead of you.
Sharon
