Angel

It was a chill October’s night. I had heard about the new dance club in town. And wanted to check it out. Hey, I was only 19 years old. What could they do to me? I walked in. The place was not too crowded. But I saw a lot of people that I knew there. There was a railing around the dancing area. I leaned on it to watch the couples dance. That’s when I saw her. I hadn’t seen her before. My friend Joey tapped me on the shoulder. I looked over at him.

    "Who’s she?" I asked.

"Oh yeah. How far down?" I asked. Turning my head back to her. She was amazing.

"I think," He paused. "Mississippi." He finished his root beer. "Want one?" He asked.

"No thanks. Mississippi isn’t that far down."

"It’s over by Tennessee. What’s up with you man?"

"What do you mean?" I asked watching her.

"I never seen you like this before. Well, not till," He paused. "Till you saw her." I looked over at him.

"Yeah. Well, some of us around here like girls." I knew he was bi but didn’t tell him that I knew. After all, he has been my friend since we were babies.

"That was not even funny!" He shouted. I laughed.

"Look at her Joey. She doesn’t have to fake it. Like I do." He laughed. "She was born to shake it." He laughed again. "Look at her stomp that hardwood floor. Like she’s gonna break it. Man, I would like to get my hands on that.." Joey’s look stopped me.

"Whoa, Taylor, man, you’re getting a little too serious about this chick. You haven’t even met her. And have you been listening to your self talk?" I laughed.

"Look at all these guys, she’s the main attraction. How can I get in on that action?" I blushed. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Joey licking his lips. Oh, god I thought to myself. He only licks his lips when he’s aroused. Please let the girl be doing it. And not my talking I told my thoughts.

I looked over at him. He was staring at some guy across the floor. The guy looked buff. Joey liked that. He liked ‘em with muscles. He had once confessed to me that he had a crush on me, but that was seven years ago. That’s when I knew. Since I got older he sort of, how should I put this, grew out of it. And am I glad that he did. I decided to go back to my thoughts.

"How can I get close to her?" I asked myself outloud.

"Ask her to dance." I heard for some where.

    "What?" I asked.

"Ask her to dance. Good luck. I am going in for the kill." With that Joey took off on to the dance floor. Dancing and prancing around like some guy out of a 40’s hip-hop movie. I looked over to see where that guy was that Joey was staring at earlier. I didn’t see him.

"Hi!" I turned to see the guy that I was looking for in front of me.

"Hi!" I squeaked. Shit I screamed at myself.

"Was you um.. checking me out?" I blushed. "You know, you got a girly look to ya." I laughed nervously. "I like that." He blew his breath in my ear. I looked over at Joey. He looked like I did when I had asked a girl out and got dumped.

"Hey, you messing with him?" Joey asked. The guy tried to look like he was straight. It wasn’t working. "Hey, you want to um.. dance?" The guy, who later on I found out that his name was Bruce, Held out his hand. Joey took it and led him to the dance floor. The up beat tempo turned to slow rock. They started slow dancing. I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked. It was her.

"Hi!" It was all I could do to keep from taking her right there.

"Hi!" I smiled. She smiled back.

"I’m Taylor." I held out my hand. She shook it. "You got a name?" I asked. She again ignored the question. I shook it off.

"That your friend?" she asked. I turned my head to see Joey and Bruce getting down on the dance floor. The music was still slow rock.

"Um.. yeah." I blushed. "You want to dance?" I asked her.

"Sure." She said. I led her out to the floor. We joined hands. And started dancing. We danced the night away. Till the club was closed. I took her home. She invited me in. Things got a little out of hand.

I woke up the next morn with a headache. I got out of bed and headed for the medicine cabinet in the kitchen. I heard a scream. I turned to see my mother standing there with her mouth open.

"Oh, sorry I came in late last night. I was over a friends house." I saw her facial expression it hadn’t changed. "What?" She pointed at my waist down. I looked down.

There I was standing nude in the kitchen for all to see. I looked up, blushed and took off for the laundry room.

Later that day I opened my wallet. I found a piece of paper.I opened it. It read: Taylor, Thank you for a wonderful night. If you ever want to go out again just call me. Love, Angel.

I closed the note and stuck it back in my wallet. "Angel.."
