Two Beds & A Coffee Machine
song by: Savage Garden

And she takes another step / Slowly she opens the door
Check that he is sleeping /
Pick up all the broken glass and furniture on the floor
Been up half the night screaming now it's time to get away
Pack up the kids in the car
Another bruise to try and hide / Another alibi to write

"I said look at me!" Taylor yelled grabbing her arm spinning her around to face him. "When I talk to you, you look at me!" He shouted. The baby's crying startled her.

"The baby's crying, Taylor" she sobbed. "The baby's crying," She went in the direction of their children's room.

He stopped her. "You go when I say so," He looked at her crying, sobbing. "Go," he said in disgust.

Ana ran for the room which their children slept. "Kate," she picked the now hysterically 9 month old up, "Shh, it's all right." She tried to calm her youngest baby down. "Shh," she soothed.

    "Mommy," a voice said.

"Yes, sweetie." She said walking over to her son's bed. "What's the matter baby?" She asked.

"What are you and daddy yelling about?" Their oldest of 4 years asked.

"Nothing, daddy is just tired, Jordan."

"I heard glass breaking," he softly said.

"I know. I was cleaning the dishes and the dog scared me. That's all." She lied. Just then, they both heard the door open.

"Taylor, I thought you went to bed," her voice trembled.

"I was waiting for you," he whispered.

Another ditch in the road / You keep moving
Another stop sign / You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast / Wonder how I ever made it through

Ana looked at her daughter, now sleeping on her shoulder. Taylor stepped in and took her from Ana.

Jordan and his mother both watched as Taylor softly and carefully laid his daughter back into her crib.

Ana kissed her son on his forehead as she tucked him back in. Taylor waited for her at the door.

Once their children's door was shut, Taylor wrapped his arms around Ana. "I want you tonight," he nibbled her ear.

"Taylor, no..." she protested pushing him away.

"Fine, we'll do it the hard way." He pushed her on the their bed and closed their bedroom door.

And there are children to think of / Baby's asleep in the backseat
Wonder how they'll ever make it through this living nightmare
But the mind is an amazing thing
Full of candy dreams and new toys and another cheap hotel
    Two beds and coffee machine
But there are groceries to buy / And she knows she'll have to go home

"What do you mean you lost the baby?" Taylor shouted.

"I had a miscarriage..." Ana was now hysterical.

"Get the fuck in that bed," Taylor threw her on their bed. "We're gonna make another baby," he whispered in her ear.

Another ditch in the road / You keep moving
Another stop sign / You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Wonder how I ever made it through

"Hey..." A middle aged woman said. "Ana? Is that you?" She asked pulling her shopping basket up next to Ana's. "It is you!" She laughed and hugged Ana. "How are you?"

    "I'm fine."

"So, I heard you got married some time ago, but nobody ever told me who to." They were now walking down the aisle heading slowly toward the meat section.

    "Taylor." Ana smiled. "Taylor Hanson."

"Well, you got yourself a fine young man..." The woman's attention was caught by two small boys running in circles around a tall, lean, handsome man. "Are they yours?"

Ana nodded smiling. "The one in blue," Ana said pointing out her boys. "...is Jordan, and the one in green, is James. Jordan is 4 and James is 3." They both laughed as the handsome man picked up Jordan and swung him around in a circle. "Oh, and that's Taylor."

"I can tell..." The woman said. "I'm sorry, I'm Nancy. I was a friend of your Mother's."

    "I know." Ana nodded.

    "You do?"

"I remember you." Ana's smiled fell from her face. "You came to get us that night."

"Yes, that night. Such a terrible thing. People can be so cruel to each other."

    "Yes.. they can."

"You got yourself a pretty big family." Nancy laughed changing the subject. "And a very beautiful one at that."

    "Thank you."

"Who's this sweetie..." Nancy smiled at the baby girl who was sitting in the seat at the front of the shopping basket.

"She's Kate," Ana watched Taylor run around with their sons. They had a bouncing ball and was playing soccer with it. "He's going to get thrown out, again." She laughed.

"Another on the way?" Nancy laughed putting her hand on Ana's bulging stomach. "I don't see how you do it. I was lucky to even talk about having children." Ana shrugged her shoulders and offered a weak smile.

Another bruise to try and hide / Another alibi to write
Another lonely highway in the black of night
But there's hope in the darkness / You know you're going to make it

"Who was that woman you were talking to at the store?" Taylor shouted at Ana.

"A friend." Ana went about picking up the children's toys off the living room floor.

"How come I've never seen her before." Taylor questioned.

    "She's a friend of my mother's."

"Your mother is dead." The sound of his voice was enough to throw Ana against the wall.

"That night, my mother called her to come and get us. And we stayed with her for while."

"Oh, that night." Taylor said sarcastically. "What exactly happened that night Ana?" He demanded to know.

"My father came home drunk. He began hitting and beating my mother. He tried to rape her..." Ana stopped letting tears escape. "I woke up in the middle of it. He started hitting me..." She was sobbing now. "My mom called Nancy, and Nancy called the police..." Ana looked into Taylor's blue eyes. She realized he wasn't the same man she married. He wasn't the same man she fell in love with. "We stayed with Nancy for a while... then my parents got back together..."

"How did your mom die, Ana?" Taylor asked softly.

Ana laughed. She began to realize everything all at once. "He had come home drunk again... he tried to hit her again, I tried to stop him... I couldn't... he threw me against the wall... and started to beat my mom, he hit her, and kicked her..." Ana looked at Taylor. "Till he killed her."

Another ditch in the road / You keep moving
Another stop sign / You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast / Wonder how I ever made it through
