History(Tor II #6) - The Yeti lived in seclusion on snowy mountains and were dying off during the Paleolithic, with few children being born and the small female population rapidly aging. Cro-Magnon tor and his love scaled a snow-covered mountain on a quest to reach Tor’s homeland when a Yeti invited them inside his people’s cave, warmed by a dormant volcano. The Yeti made it clear he wanted Tor’s companion as his mate and challenged tor to combat. They fought ferociously and tor stabbed the Yeti to death with the dinosaur tooth he kept as a weapon. The rest of the Yetis let Tor and his companion pass as they made their way to Tor’s homeland and an uncertain future.

(Action Comics I #255) - Sir John led an explorers’ party into Africa’s Bukari Mountains, and hired Congo Bill as a guide. John had heard rumors that an Abominable Snowman, which he believed to be a holdover from the last Ice Age, lived at the top of the mountain, and was determined to be the first man to see it in the flesh. They made camp for the night, and john showed off his prized possession, the Star of Siam emerald, to Bill. He noticed Bill’s magic ring, and having heard of the legend of Congorilla, asked Bill to rub it. Bill said Congorilla was a myth, but agreed to rub the ring, taking a sleeping pill first so that when Congorilla’s mind entered his body he’d be fast asleep and not reveal his secret. Congorilla used binoculars to make sure his human body was asleep, and saw bandits who were after john’s emerald attack the camp. Congorilla staid out of sight and caused a cave-in under the icy ridge the bandits were standing on. The bandits scattered, but still kept their guns trained on the camp. Congorilla ran into the Abominable Snowman, who was a timid creature more afraid of him than he was of the creature. The Snowman had taken a supply-barrel from camp and was playing with it like a toy. Congorilla hurled the barrel back at the camp and the Snowman charged after it, the mere sight of him causing the bandits to flee in fear. Congorilla descended the mountain and rubbed his ring, returning his mind to Congo Bill’s body. Sir John was amazed Bill had slept through the action and admitted he was puzzled as to why the Abominable Snowman saved them.

(Batman I #337) - In 1954 Katrina Kristin was part of a U.N. expedition to the Himalayas. She was separated from her party during a snowstorm and ended up taking shelter in a cave. She was nursed back to health by the cave’s inhabitant. She couldn’t see him in the darkness, but felt attracted to him, and they slept together. In the morning light she realized she’s spent the night with a Yeti. The experience drove her mad, and she died giving birth to her child Klaus Kristin. Klaus’ only sign of his Yeti heritage was that he was born an albino, but as the years passed he gained cold generating powers and needed to live in cold climates to survive. As Snowman he came to blows with Batman, because he needed to steal to travel to cold climates throughout the year. During the fight Batman blinded Snowman with a flare, causing him to fall of the mountain, seemingly to his death. Batman wondered if Snowman had hoped his death would be the inevitable outcome of their encounter.

(Swamp Thing IV #7) - Cryptozoologist Coleman Wadsworth was being funded by Max Ramhoff, a big-game hunter who wanted to use Wadsworth's research to find cryptids to kill and make into trophies. Wadsworth traveled to Nepal to find Yetis and observe them, while Ramhoff tracked his GPS coordinates and used them to hunt down one of the legendary creatures.
