The Antithesis drew his powers from sentient beings' negative emotions.History: (Teen Titans vol. 1 #53, Secret Origins Annual #3)-Nothing is known of the Antithesis' past save that he was an extradimensional entity somehow imprisoned in the Justice League of America's computer mainframe during an untold case. Historian Bromwell Stikk accidentally released him, and in return he gave Stikk a mystical staff. Antithesis then used his powers to send the Justice League on a crime spree before being defeated by the newly formed Teen Titans and hurled into Limbo. Antithesis vowed revenge, but it would be many years before his return.
Antithesis did manage to drag Stikk into limbo for a time and bestow him with more power. Stikk became the Gargoyle and was used as a pawn to combat the Teen Titans on two occasions; failing both times. Later, Gargoyle and Antithesis corrupted the Gabriel Horn used by the Titan Herald in order to open up a rift between Limbo and Earth. Herald used his Gabriel Horn one final time to banish both Gargoyle and Antithesis back into Limbo, where they remain to this day.
