History: (Batman I #156) - Jumbo Carson was part of Al Welles' mob, but after a falling out he sent triggermen to kill him in the woods. While fleeing Jumbo stumbled into water that contained the runoff from Dr. Hanson's lab. Hanson had been working on a shrinking formula, and the runoff shrunk Jumbo to a few inches in height. The killers didn't see him, and assumed they got him. Jumbo took the costumed identity of Ant-Man and posed as a superhero to get revenge on his old gang. He helped Robin catch Welles' henchmen the Brady Brothers when they tried to rob a school fundraiser, and when he got a line on Welles personally robbing a jewelry store he asked for Robin's assistance again. They caught the gangster, and with his revenge complete he opened a safe-door onto Robin's knees and ran off with jewels. Robin deduced Ant-Man's origins and identity, so he planted a story about Hanson having discovered a antidote, and apprehended Ant-Man when he showed up at the lab. Ant-Man was angry that not only was he going to jail, but he'd be staying an inch-high prisoner.
