Powers: The Atom Guards were robots that possessed superhuman durability and were armed with ray-guns.

History: (Adventure Comics I #308) - The master of Thieves’ world, a hideout for crooks across the universe, constructed the Atom Guard to serve a security force for his planet. The Legion of super-Heroes found out the secret location of Thieves’ Planet and flew there in their spaceship, claiming to be criminals to learn more about who ran the planet. The master’s telepathic powers uncovered them as liars, and he sent his Atom Guard to apprehend them. The Legion were placed in a jewel jail, but Legionnaire Chameleon Boy had his pet Protean transform into a gun, allowing the Legion to bluff their way out of prison when a guard came to feed them. The Legion tore through Thieves’ World, apprehending a number of criminals, and Legionnaire Lightning Lad used his powers to short-circuit the master.
