History: (Whiz Comics #103) - The Black Buzzard Gang discovered that Tim Boyd’s boys’ ranch was on an enormous salt bed, and intended to claim it for their own. They tried to kill Tim, so the land would go to public auction. Captain Marvel, who, as Billy Batson, was doing a story on the boys’ ranch, drove them off. They kidnapped Billy and tied him up in the desert so their trained buzzards would eat him, then attacked the boys’ ranch annual rodeo. Billy escaped, found out why the Buzzards were after the land, and changed into Captain Marvel and defeated them.

Due to the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Black Buzzard Gang's existence was erased from DC continuity.
