Powers: Eating alien seaweed sauncha temporarily gave Strong superhuman strength. When it wore off he was physically drained.

History:  Captain Strong discovered a mysterious seaweed he named sauncha, and upon eating it he became superhumanly strong. After using his powers for a while to help others he discovered that sauncha was addictive and prologed usage made him angry and irrational.

(Action Comics I #566) - Captain Strong gave Clark Kent and Lois Lane an offer to join him on a cruise of the Fantasia through the Bahamas. Strong revealed that the ship's previous owner Captain Wynne left a journal that suggested he found the fountain of youth in the Bahamas. As they approached Andros island, the site of the fountain, the Old Lady of the Sea sent storms and monsters to chase them off, but Clark secretly used his superpowers to keep them from harm, allowing Strong to think he'd regained his old powers and letting him take credit for the saves. On Andros the Old Lady and her companion, Strong's father, tried to drive them off, but their scuffle destroyed the fountain. Strong thought his father long dead, and he told his son he'd survived a shipwreck and stayed on the island as the Old Lady's friend. The Old Lady conjured a magical duplicate of Superman, but Strong fought it off because the Old Lady's powers were ebbing as she was dying because of the fountain's destruction. With the fountain gone Strong took his father back home.

(Green Arrow III #22) - Green Arrow hired Strong to sail him to the South Seas Island where he first became Green Arrow so he could rediscover himself.
