Powers: The Chida possessed superhuman strength and durability, and was armed with fangs and claws. Any energy attack directed at a Chida Monster was absorbed and caused it to grow larger. As Chidas aged they began to lose mobility and transform into rock.

History: (Starfire II #2-4) - The Chida was sent to destroy Stratan champion Atlee by his master, her jilted fiancée. Atlee buried the Chida Monster deep in the earth, and encased him in an iron ball, but he eventually burrowed free, and started eating every human in sight. He tracked Atlee to the Blue Monkey diner, and attacked. Luckily the hero Starfire was also present, and after moving the fight outside the heroes decided to team up. The monster grew stronger the more energy was directed at it, so Atlee tossed the Chida to Starfire, who flew him far over the ocean, and began pounding him until he was of immeasurable size. The Chida tried to grab Starfire as he sank, but Starfire blasted his hand apart, and when he reached the ocean bottom he collapsed it, sinking deep into the earth.

(Starfire II #9, 10) - A Chida Monster reported to King Neala-Tok that Atlee was on her way to Strata with her friends Starfire and Sherrif Gomez. Neala-Tok organized his latest invasion on Strata, and had his troops slaughter every citizen in their path. Atlee fought him, and he unleashed his second wave of attackers, more Chida Monsters. Starfire absorbed ambient light, and Strata overloaded her, but her body adjusted as Atlee and Gomez fought their losing battle against Neala-Tok. The recovered Starfire confronted the kind, telling him he'd be ruler of an empty kingdom if he continued his genocidal rampage, and he never thought past his own malevolence. She unleashed her full power, disintegrating Neala-Tok and his army.
