Powers: Chunk was a brilliant scientist who could absorb limitless amounts of organic or inorganic matter and make it vanish to parts unknown. Unless he periodically consumes 47 times his own weight in super-dense materials (such as gold or platinum) he would implode into another dimension, home of a barren desert planet. After a certain amount of time he was capable of traveling back to Earth.

History: (Flash vol. 2 #9-11) - Chunk was a scientific prodigy, though somewhat mentally imbalanced. At the age of 24 he invented a matter-transmitting machine, but when he tested the device it imploded, becoming a part of his body. Chunk was now a human black hole, capable of absorbing matter and transmitting it to other dimensions. Chunk also discovered that unless he consumed mass quantities of hard minerals he would implode and be transported to an extradimensional desert planet. Over the next few years he traveled there hundreds of times, often bringing along random bystanders, criminals and malcontents and then stranding them on the planet. Chunk was confronted by Flash III while consuming gems and precious metals in NY, and Chunk sent Flash to the desert planet. Flash convinced Chunk that he would be lauded by the scientific community and absolved of all crimes if he returned the prisoners back to Earth. Chunk was hesitant, but eventually complied. Chunk went to court and was released under Flash's recognizance pending further investigation. Chunk now lives in a mansion formerly occupied by Flash and makes a living by using his power as a "removal service."

(Justice League America #0) - Chunk and Linda Park threw Flash III a welcome party after the hero returned from the time-stream.

(Impulse #38) - Roland, a fan of Chunk, wrote him an e-mail asking him to save his town of Manchester, Alabama from a flood, and offered to do yardwork if he helped. Chunk waived his usual fee and absorbed the water threatening the town and sending it to another dimension, figuring on making a profit later by selling the water to communities caught in a drought.

(Flash II #177) - Chunk was shot in the chest by Plunder after attending a theatre opening with Connie. The bullet was made of white dwarf star matter, and caused Chunk’s powers to go haywire. He started absorbing everything around him, people, buildings even light, until Flash removed the bullet from his body. Chunk was sent to S.T.A.R. Labs for treatment.

(Flash II #195) - Chunk recovered from his injuries, and paid off S.T.A.R. Labs bills for their new children’s hospital out of gratitude. Chunk and Connie got engaged and planned to start a family as soon as they were married.
