History: (Superman & Batman Generations #1) - <1949> When Gotham City lost Commissioner Gordon it proved to be one of the worst blows the city ever suffered. Jim’s son Tony Gordon took his father’s place as police commissioner. The people of Gotham were skeptical he could fill his father’s shoes until Batman endorsed him. The new Commissioner Gordon never felt comfortable with batman since he owed his success and acceptance to him. Gordon alerted Batman and Robin when Joker, who’d long been thought dead, robbed a Gotham metallurgy plant, making off with green and gold kryptonite.
