History: Humanity filled the airwaves with electric signals, and built technologically advanced electronic devices. The airwaves became overloaded after decades of use, and the signals formed a consiousness, the Construct, whose mind existed in all electronic devices. The Construct created a robotic body to house its' mind, and set about to conquer the world, but was foiled by the Justice League of America.

(JLA #107) - The Construct was imprisoned on the electromagnetic plane at the JLA Watchtower. Each time his consciousness started evolving too fast the JLA disrupted it, but each disruption only accelerated the start of his evolutionary process. Flash and Martian Manhunter entered his electromagnetic plane prison and were repulsed. Flash saw the Construct’s loneliness and enmity towards anything other than itself, so he suggested Manhunter build a signal-splitter. The splitter divided the Construct’s consciousness and taught it that “other” didn’t necessarily mean danger.

Construct (JLA #113) - The scattered Construct advanced and created a society within its electro plane prison. It honored the JLA and built statues for them for showing Construct it was not alone. When the Qwardians and the Crime Syndicate of Amerika threatened Earth it contacted Flash with a solution to resolve the conflict. It recognized the Qwardian’s doomsday weapon Erdammeru as an electronic mind similar to itself, and Green Lantern John Stewart had it contact the weapon. Erdammeru still didn’t understand the concept of other and refused to make peace with the Construct, but their connection enabled Stewart to absorb the weapon into his power ring, defanging the Qwardians.
