Powers: The Crimson Archer was an expert marksman armed with a umber of trick arrows, including a smoke arrow, a boxing glove arrow, a balloon arrow, a flame arrow and a gun arrow.

History: (Adventure Comics I #259) - Criminal kingpin Herb Vraney had his career cut short by Green Arrow, who sent him to jail. After being released from prison Herb dug up a fortune in stolen money he had hidden before he started his sentence. He had extensive plastic surgery and adopted the identity of idle millionaire Mr. Vance. As Vance he summoned Green Arrow and promised to write a million dollar check to Green Arrow's favorite charity if the hero taught him how to be a master archer and how to use trick arrows, and Arrow accepted. After extensive training by Green Arrow, Vance took on the costumed identity of the Crimson Archer and went on a crime spree. When Green Arrow caught up to him he taunted Arrow with the fact that he was his former pupil and challenged Green Arrow to a duel, figuring that Green Arrow's pledge never to take a life would be his undoing. Crimson Archer went for the kill, but despite his unwillingness to use deadly force against the Archer, Green Arrow prevailed. The Archer was sentenced to life in prison, and Green Arrow was confident that his pupil would never again be a menace to society.
