Powers: Danny was a piece of pan-dimensional sentient architecture that could move across and between dimensions. He usually communicated through features of his architecture, and was a lover of the theatre.History: Danny was a sentient street who traveled the world, usually at night while no one was watching. He was proud of his transvestite lifestyle, despite the fact that the world judged his manly gun shops dressed up in frilly lace. Danny became the home of the unwanted and outcasts, whom he identified with. The Men from N.O.W.H.E.R.E. saw him as too weird to exist, and tried to destroy him, but he was saved by the Doom Patrol. In gratitude Danny became their mobile headquarters.
(Doom Patrol V #7-9) - Danny the Street lay in ruins as MSE, a pan-dimensional construction company, found him wanting and built over him. He sent a single brick to Crazy Jane, who brought it to the Doom Patrol in hopes of saving Danny. The MSE followed her, and claimed all of Earth as theirs by right of eminent domain. The Doom Patrol forced them away from Earth, and Crazy Jane used Danny the Brick to construct Danny the Bungalow. Danny knew his new form would attract a very important refugee from society, and Ambush Bug and his “son” Cheeks, The Toy Wonder arrived on Oolong to live in him.
(Doom Patrol V #11) - Elasti-Girl was kidnapped by the Front Men, so the DP roused Ambush Bug from Danny the Bungalow to use his teleportation powers to get her back.
(Doom Patrol V #14) - Ambush Bug swung from one of Danny’s swings and pulled out a guitar, singing a song about the Doom Patrol’s recent adventures.
(Doom Patrol V #19) - During the Doom Patrol’s battle with the Secret Six on Oolong Ambush Bug fell head over heels for posh Six member Jeannette. He teleported her to Danny The Bungalow in an attempt to romance her, but she was revolted by Danny’s tackiness, and Ambush Bug’s bourgeoisie nature.
(Doom Patrol V #22) - The DP were kicked out of Oolong, and Mr. Somebody and the M.S.E. set upo shop on the island with Somebody possessing President Cale. Ambush Bug, Crazy Jane and Dusty Marlow banded together, still having loyalty for the DP, and holing up in Danny the Bungalow. Ambush Bug showed his displeasure with Somebody by continually teleporting his super team the Front Men to Antarctica. The M.S.E. dared not try to destroy Danny because the effects of harming a pan-dimensional being were totally unknown. The DP stormed Ooolong, destroyed the M.S.E.’s security devices, and defeated the Front Men. Mr. Somebody and the M.S.E. confronted the Doom Patrol, and Danny had become Danny The Island, and was completely ready to shake them off him, but Ambush Bug let Somebody know, using his cosmic awareness, that DC was canceling the Doom Patrol comic, and the DC Universe was being remade after the company wide crossover Flashpoint. Somebody accepted that there was no point in fighting, and abandoned Cale’s body, and left the dimensional plane with the M.S.E. President Cale repatriated the DP.
