History: (Arkham Asylum: Living Hell #1, 2) - Death Rattle was a murderous cult leader who killed 56 members of his congregation, claiming the dead he talked to demanded it. He was incarcerated at Arkham Asylum., and budget constrains led to him having a bunkmate, Great White Shark, a billionaire scam artist who played the system and ended up in Arkham instead of Blackgate by pleading insanity. Death Rattle made him sleep on the floor, telling him that the ghost of a little girl he'd murdered was sleeping in the top bunk. Junkyard Dog helped Death Rattle do a shakedown on White. The Dog found shredded transcripts of White's therapy sessions, and learned that he'd driven his accountant Wilson to suicide. Death Rattle, threatened White, saying Milton wanted him dead, but Humpty Dumpty, who wanted to "fix" White exposed Dog and Death Rattle's scheme. Guard Aaron Cash scoffed at Death Rattles "powers," but Rattle made some statements that indicated he did indeed have connections to the afterlife.
(Arkham Asylum: Living Hell #4-6) - Jane Doe, in the identity of Arkham guard Wrigley, helped fee her fellow inmates, and Death Rattle enjoyed the riot. Doodlebug murdered victims to free the Skarva, Demons trapped beneath Arkham. The Skarva stirred in their tomb, and started rampaging through Arkham Asylum while Death Rattle rejoiced. Doodlebug started making sacrifices to open up a gate to hell, and Death Rattle, encouraged by the ghosts of those he'd killed, volunteered, immolating himself.
