Decay's breath is equally deadly, and can crumble a target to dust.History: (Wonder Woman vol. 2 #3, 4)-God of fear Phobos wanted to earn the favor of his father Ares by creating a being that would destroy Wonder Woman II. To this end he traveled to the Cavern of the Gorgons and extracted a piece of Medusa's heart. He used his breath to shape the molten material and bring it to life. He named this being Decay, and disguised her as a small idol. Phobos sent the idol to the home of Julia Kapatelis, Wonder Woman's mentor. Decay assumed her true form at the house and ambushed Julia and Wonder Woman. The battle between Decay and Wonder Woman spread across the entire city of Boston, leaving behind a path of destruction. Wonder Woman's lasso proved to be Decay's undoing. Since it was forged from the girdle of the goddess Gaea, the mother of all Earth, it possessed the power of constant renewal. Thus it poured life-energy into Decay until she crumbled into the dust that had spawned her.
