THE DOCTOR
Real Name: Unrevealed
Class: Human magic-user
Occupation: Shaman
Group Affiliation: The Changers
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: The Garden of Ancestral Memory
First Appearance: Stormwatch I (Wildstorm) #48 (May, 1997)
Powers: The Doctor could call on the wisdom and power of his predecessors in the Garden of Ancestral Memory. Using his chaos magic he enacted change by warping reality, transforming matter, projecting energy, healing, using telepathy and telekinesis and stepping between dimensions, among other powers.
History: (The Authority I #1) - When The Doctor died his spirit entered the Garden of Ancestral Memory, as had all the previous Doctors, and Jeroen Thornedike was chosen to replace him, opening up a singularity around him and giving him access to the memory, wisdom and powers of the previous Doctors, who had served Earth for as long as the planet needed a shaman to protect and heal it.
(The Authority I #4) - The Doctor felt out of his element, but his predecessor spoke to him, reminding him that the world was his village, and he had every Doctor in his corner to help him realize his potential.
(The Authority I #9) - The Doctor was in the Garden of Ancestral Memory, and felt something ancient stirring that was once on Earth. His predecessors revealed that humanity had only inherited Earth, and that the planet's original owner had woken up. The heralds took over the moon, and some of them landed in Africa. Doctor told Sparks, and nearly collapsed in her arms.
(The Authority I #20) - In the '60s there was a Renegade Doctor whose psychopathic tendencies got him kicked out of the Garden, and his powers were stripped. He used his remaining powers to convince the Earth to eradicate humanity, but agreed to stop the Earth's destruction if the Doctor restored his powers for one hour. The Doctors of the Garden of Ancestral Memory were quite cross with the Doctor. They doubted he was the person for the job after he ODed, and they thought he was mad for giving the disgraced Renegade his powers back, but the Doctor assured them he had a plan. The Renegade achieved enlightenment, and realized what a horrible person he was and how awful his actions were. He broke down sobbing, and Apollo blasted him with heat-vision, turning him to ash.
(The Authority I #29) - The Authority was replaced by the G7 Authority, and the Doctor's replacement Surgeon turned the Garden into a development and commercial space. The Surgeon's death allowed the Doctors to undue the damage, and the Doctor's predecessor said his pantheon needed him.
