(Adventure Comics I #41) - Don and Red Murphy studied the top-secret plans for the navy's radio-controlled torpedoes. They planned to take in a show when Kerry spotted master spy Sin Yen, and they trailed him. Yen got the drop on him, and trapped the heroes in his headquarters, demanding Kerry spill about the torpedoes. Kerry refused, so Yen unleashed his hybrid animals on him, a Gorilla Man, a Boa-Spider and an Octo-Dile, but Kerry fought them all off. Sin Yen died during the Octo-Dile's rampage, and his abse burned down.

(Adventure Comics I #42) - Kerry's fleet got an order to return to Mare Island immediately, but as they turned around a torpedo sank them. Kerry and Red were the only survivors, and clung on to flotsam to keep from drowning. They saw a tower in the middle of the ocean, and were taken inside by some Mavanese men led by Admiral Cato. He was testing advanced tech before declaring war on the US, and was responsible for destroying Kerry's fleet. He declared them the first prisoners of war and showed them around. In the compression chamber Kerry took a guard's gun and ordered him to overfill the tanks, knowing the resulting explosion would destroy the base. Kerry was willing to die to foil Cato, who leapt at him and was shot, but one of his underlings promised to give their location to the navy and surrender. The navy arrived, but other soldiers had Kerry and Red pinned down for a while so they had no time to stop filling the tanks. As the navy took the heroes to safety the base exploded.
