Labs Light Technology Department, and utilized light physics to create an arsenal of light technology and weaponry. Arthur sold their secrets toa corporate raider, and was caught by the hero Dr. Light. The new superhero was actually Finlay, trying to find ways to make their research a force for good, but when he recognized Arthur he let him go. Arthur confronted Finlay, who was soon after killed in a lab accident, and whose ghost would always haunt Arthur, blaming him for his death. Arthur discovered Finlay's suit, and used it to become the new Dr. Light, a supervillain.
(Identity Crisis #2 (fb)) - Dr. Light found a way aboard the JLA satellite, which was deserted except for Elongate Man’s wife Sue Dibny. Light brutally savaged Sue, but when the JLA returned to their hq they quickly defeated Light. Elongated Man took Sue to the hospital, but Light threatened the rest of the JLA, telling them he’d find their loved ones and do to them what he did to Sue. Hawkman proposed that they mindwipe Dr. Light and make him less of the threat. After the deciding vote was cast Zatanna used her magic to erase Light’s memory, but in trying to alter his personality she magically lobotomized him, making him a minimal threat.
(JLA #9-12, 14, 15) - Lex Luthor used the Philosopher Stone to brainwash Jemm and made him nudge the minds of a number of villains, including Dr. Light, so that they would be willing to work for Luthor as the Injustice Gang. He told them they wouldn’t be having another brawl with the JLA, they would defeat the heroes using corporate strategies like gathering information, recruitment and shaking their confidence in their leader. Lex and Light designed the JLA Revenge Squad, hard-light duplicates, and sent them to wreck havoc in Star City. The Revenge Squad gathered information about the JLA and their team fighting style before being recalled. The Gang lured Superman and Martian Manhunter to a duplicate of the Injustice Gang satellite hq, and trapped them in a maze that was a manifestation of Joker’s mind. Circe then approached Green Arrow and tried to lure him away from the JLA. The Gang teleported warheads aboard the JLA Watchtower and demanded that Aztek join them or die, but Aztek disarmed the bombs. The JLA found the Injustice Gang satellite, thanks to Arrow, who’d only pretended to betray the JLA, and Mirror Master, who was working for Batman, who’d paid him more than Lex. The JLA defeated the Gang and blew up their satellite.
(JLA #34) - Mageddon approached Earth, and sent a remote sender to Belle Reve prison, where drove Dr. Light and the other prisoners berserk with rage, sparking off a riot. The JLA quelled the riot.
(JLA
#59) - Joker Jokerized a number of inmates at the Slab, including Dr. Light. The
insane Light was captured, given an antidote to the Joker Venom, and put in a
metahuman holding facility in Death Valley.
(Green
Lantern / Atom #1) - Atom II and the Teen Lanterns incorrectly guessed that the
villain Oblivion was a hard-light creation of Dr. Light, so they checked to see
if Light had escaped from Green Lantern’s power battery. They found Light was
still imprisoned, and still moaning that his captivity was inhumane, so they
realized he had nothing to do with Oblivion.
(Identity Crisis #2, 3, 6) - Dr. Light knew the JLA marked him as the prime suspect in Sue Dibny’s murder so he went to one of the supervillain community's semi-regular gatherings at the Injustice Gang's old satellite headquarters to beg for help. He hired Deathstroke to protect him, and together they confronted the JLA. During the ensuing fight Dr. Light remembered his brutal attack on Sue Dibny and how the JLA lobotomized him. His mind now intact he unleashed his powers on the JLA, striking them unconscious, and fled. Light spread the story of what the JLA id to him to the supervillain community.
(Green Arrow III #54-59) - The Society blew up Green Arrow’s home, and when he went looking for Dr. Light with Black Lightning the Society set a trap. Light brutally attacked the heroic Dr. Light, absorbing her starlight energy, doubling his own power and leaving her powerless. She was sent to the hospital where Arrow and Lightning visited her, and they were ambushed by Mirror Master and Killer Frost of the Society. While they occupied the heroes Light planned to kill Green Arrow’s family, starting with his ward Mia Dearden. Light thought the JLA showed weakness by not killing him after his attack on Sue Dibney, and wanted them to regret letting him live as he picked off their families. He attacked Mia’s school, and after incapacitating her he told her he was going to kill Connor Hawke and released her. He didn’t know where Green Arrow’s new home was, but knew Mia would run home to Connor to help him. Having fooled Mia he prepared to finish Connor and her off when Green Arrow and Black Lightning arrived. He teleported Green Arrow away from the house and sealed its exits with light. Light was then joined by fellow Society member Merlyn, who’d rigged a bomb to Arrow’s new house, and they forced Arrow to watch as they blew up his new home with his family inside. Light released Arrow, but wouldn’t let him see the results of the explosion, threatening to tear down Star City if he didn’t chase after him. Light enjoyed messing with Arrow’s mind, and led him to a park, where Merlyn was waiting for him for a showdown. When they fought to a draw Arrow fled back to the city, but Merlyn set off another bomb set in a Star building and demanded that Arrow finish their fight. Arrow beat Merlyn in a fistfight, but then Light and Merlyn set off more detonators, setting fire to most of Star City. A third of the city was destroyed and thousands were killed. Merlyn pushed two arrows through Green Arrow’s back and told him this was the day the villains won and the heroes died.
