History: (Adventures of Superman #431) - The infant Stratos was found at the base of Mount Olympus, and he grew up believing he was a god, whose powers would one day manifest. As an adult he hired scientists to build a satellite to affect the weather so he could fake having powers. He used the satellite to radically alter worldwide weather patterns, and threatened America and Russia that they would be destroyed unless his demands were met. Superman came to the world's aid, and after finding Stratos' satellite he used it to find Stratos' base in Greece. Stratos had his satellite fire a particle beam at Superman, but didn't expect him to land at his doorstep so quickly, and the beam hit Superman and Stratos, seemingly killing the villain. he actually fell into the sea, and soon emerged with the godlike appearance and powers he'd dreamed of.
