History:  (Adventure Comics I #251) - Dr. Varn was part of Atlantica's science bureau in the year 6958, where there was no oceans after a supernova evaporated virtually all water on Earth, but he was cast out when for using science for personal gain. Aquaman arrived from thousands of years in the past after a nuclear explosion sent him through the time barrier, and scientist Zed-3 prepared to test out his new time machine to return him to his proper age. Zed and a gang of hired criminals broke into the lab, planning on using the time machine to plunder the past with their futuristic weaponry. Aquaman commanded the whales and cetaceans that had evolved to live on land to defeat Varn, and round up his gang.
