Powers: Effigy could generate and control fire. His usual method of attack was to create flaming constructs under his control.

History: Martyn was abducted by the Controllers, who took him aboard a spaceship and did scientific experiments on him. The controllers wanted to create a new group of superhumans to replace their fallen Darkstars. They didn't see any immediate change in Martyn, and deeming the project a failure, dropped him back off on Earth. Martyn had no memory of the abduction, but days later he discovered he had flame-based superpowers, so he took on the supervillain alter ego of Effigy and went on a cimre spee. He clashed with and was defeated by Green Lantern.
