History: (Dreaming #3 (fb, BTS), Hellblazer #185 (fb)) - Eve was created in another world as the first woman, a wife for Adam, the first man. They lived in the Garden of Eden, and God filled the Garden with animals for Adam and Eve, making thewm lords of creation, and Adam was given the task of naming them. One beast refused to be named, and promised vengeance on man. A serpent tempted her to taste the fruit of the trees of knowledge and life, which was expressly forbid by her creator. Adam and Eve fell from the creator's graces, and were cast out of Eden, with angels armed with flaming swords guarding against their reentry.
The dream of Eve was given a home in the Dreaming by Sandman, and acted as a storyteller.
(Dreaming #1-3) - Eve had a terrible dream in the Dreaming about a man that ruined her. Matthew the Raven tried to cheer her up, but after starting to tell him her worries she shut down. Cain and Abel visited her after Abel's golden gargoyle Goldie ran away, hoping she could help. She had no interest until they told her that the Dreaming's librarian Lucien mentioned that a limbless man was researching golden gargoyles. Eve recognized the description as Tempto, who was once the serpent in the garden of Eden, and sent the brothers after him. She continued to have nightmares about her fall from grace, and confided in Matthew that the serpent still tempted her, even though she knew he had nothing to offer but lies. Tempto took Goldie to the garden of Eden, and he convinced her to modify the story so there never was a fall of man. The garden was a paradise again, with Eve restored to Adam, although she was none too happy about it. She didn't want to pretend that she never had knowledge, or that man had fallen again and again after leaving the garden. Goldie sensed the wrongness of the situation, and restored the story to normal. Eve told Cain and Abel that golden gargoyles guarded all the stories, especially the old ones that bound together the Dreaming and the waking world. She showed Goldie and the brothers the bones of Goldie's predecessor, telling them that she should have hatched and taught Goldie, but Dream's absence changed things. Despite Abel's objections, Eve told him Goldie had to remain to grow into being the guardian she was destined to be.
