History: Detective Alex Sanchez lost his will to live after being involved in a horrific and scarring accident. He regained his purpose in life when Noah Hightower gave him a hi-tech battlesuit and the superhero identity Firebrand. Firebrand had a brief career fighting crime in New York City.
(JSA Secret Files #2 (fb, BTS)) - Firebrand met Guy Gardner, who told him it was always nice to meet new heroes and told him to come by Warriors some time for a drink.
(JSA Secret Files #2) - Firebrand was kidnapped by Roulette’s agents. When he woke up he was drugged, beaten and forced to fight in one of Roulette’s gladiatorial contests, with a similarly drugged Checkmate agent as his adversary. He resisted Roulette’s conditioning, refusing to kill the Checkmate agent, but as a result it was Firebrand who lost and was killed in the contest.

JSA #28 showed that Firebrand had a picture and plaque hanging on the wall of Roulette’s “Fallen Players of the House” display.
